Steve Cooper on 14:33 - Jul 21 with 1766 views | Churchman | I’m surprised at that. He always seems pretty competent and 2x top 6 finishes can’t be bad. Who do they think they’re going to replace him with and why wasn’t he kicked out at the end of the season? Strange Edit: having read the thread, his departure makes more sense now [Post edited 21 Jul 2021 15:31]

That reads as having quit to me.

Steve Cooper on 15:06 - Jul 21 with 1429 views | itfcjoe | He was always going this summer, they'd changed CEO and they didn't get on - he had been in for the jobs at Fulham, Palace and WBA as was clear it wasn't going to work there. Amazed it's taken this long to happen, but prob best for all parties that it has done now

Why? He has been liked with PL jobs, he'd get his contract paid up if he was sacked, it wouldn't damage his reputation, he can point to a good record against a backdrop of cosy cutting. No one would walk in those circumstances.

You reckon wrongly, reading between the lines his stock his high and he knows Swansea will be going backwards, so very much at the manager quitting end of mutual rather than the other way around

I dunno, they all make plenty of money, not inconceivable that he just decided life was too short to continue with a job he wasn't enjoying?

That’s the reason it’s taken this long - he didn’t quit earlier as presumably mutual termination now includes a payoff of sorts and Swansea weren’t going to do anything when the possibility of getting compensation was there But yes certainly better now than being left in the lurch 3 weeks into the season

Possibly ..... that's different from jumping before he was pushed though

Athletic report suggests both parties would have preferred Fulham/Palace/whoever to take him and have the compensation issue sorted that way but now those ships have sailed made sense to cut losses now rather than struggle on.

...to be the next manager to leave his post. Surely not?
