Last season Cook was appalling - both the results and performances were poor - but his reputation was relatively unaffected. And today, I’ve read a number of comments stating that the result didn’t matter and that the match was entertaining.
So, why will questions be asked about Paul Cook’s position? Surly, by mid-September at the latest if the team is ‘still in progress’ then he should be sacked?

Although I don’t necessarily agree with all your points I do feel that there needs to be a definite timetable for progress and success, PC and the squad need time to gel but this shouldn’t be indefinite, there can be no sacred cows at Portman road. |  | | |

The whole new team thing is down to him - I’m not saying he was wrong - but he has to be held accountable for that decision. He can’t get away with the generic excuse that the club needed a massive reboot. |

And, for all the flapping, what foot did Cook put wrong tonight? We’ve completely dominated the game from start to finish, bled some youth and given game time to fringe players. Nope. Just don’t think he should be afforded any more excuses - there’s a difference between calling for a managers head and stating that a manager should be held accountable.

For crying out loud, it’s not wetting my pants or anyone else’s for that matter. It’s simply a case that Cook shouldn’t be afforded anymore excuses. He was poor last season and he should improve. |

Yes cook is constantly being treated like a god,I knew from last season how bad he is.think it will dawn on most fans eventually, but we need to progress,and with cook here,Ipswich will be going nowhere.bring in a good professional manager,then we can build a team around him. |

Of course we need to be winning games, thats the bottom line.
The last two games have been enjoyable to watch, though - which could be said, in fairness, of about 3 of Lambert's games in his entire time here.
There are absolute signs of improvement. Of course, this doesn't insulate Cook from criticism, but we've got rid of almost all of the rot that had infected this club last year (Jackson being a notable exception to this).

A little bit of revisionism on here.
Lots of people praised the football under Lambert for most of our relegation season under him, and then again for the first couple months of the League One season that followed.
Cook shouldn't be sacked yet obviously. Its very frustrating that after telling fans to be patient as the team needs time to gel he then doesn't take advantage of a perfect fixture to do that, against Newport U23s.
Its also a pretty low bar to be happy losing to Newport U23s because we played some decent football. |  | | |

No they haven’t, but we’ve had a history of giving managers too much time and that has contributed to our current situation. No one wants to see PC hounded, and I’m sure he is far more capable than any of us but this is ITFC and we’ve been on the end of some catastrophically dire management and direction for well over a decade now, supporters have every right to feel concerned if they want to. | | | |

Embarrassing to read your OP. Clearly, someone that knows very little about football. Last season wasn't even his team, he's shown you what he thought of those players as many have left during the summer and those same players showed us what they could achieve over the last 3 seasons, but you seem happy with that?! Multiple changes doesn't equate to instant success , but there have been signs in the past two games to be encouraged about you need to open your eyes and look more closely. | |
