The same excuses for managerial failure? 22:19 - Aug 10 with 10237 viewsMattinLondon

Last season Cook was appalling - both the results and performances were poor - but his reputation was relatively unaffected. And today, I’ve read a number of comments stating that the result didn’t matter and that the match was entertaining.

So, why will questions be asked about Paul Cook’s position? Surly, by mid-September at the latest if the team is ‘still in progress’ then he should be sacked?

Nope. Just don’t think he should be afforded any more excuses - there’s a difference between calling for a managers head and stating that a manager should be held accountable.

But embarrassing to read that some don’t know the difference.

Are you 12 years old?

You are part of the problem with modern football.

We have a whole new team and drew a game at home on Saturday against a team we will beat comfortably in a couple of months.

Tonight we had enough chances to win 2 or 3 games with 10 different players starting.

It’s a project and it’s only just starting now.

Let’s see where we are at Christmas and if we aren’t around the top six then playing decent football then Cook will be in trouble, but I just don’t see that being an issue with the quality of player that we are signing now.

For crying out loud, it’s not wetting my pants or anyone else’s for that matter. It’s simply a case that Cook shouldn’t be afforded anymore excuses. He was poor last season and he should improve.

Let's get it right, the players were poor last season and several seasons before that. We can sack the manager every other game but that instability achieves nothing.

Posts like the OP. Surprise surprise ! I've been saying that some people would be losing the patience quickly but for this to be happening tonight? Some 'fans'.

Last season Cook was appalling? How fooking stupid it is to say that. The appaling was that shower of slackers who let the club down against the likes of Wimbledon, Northampton, Rochdale etc etc

The whole new team thing is down to him - I’m not saying he was wrong - but he has to be held accountable for that decision. He can’t get away with the generic excuse that the club needed a massive reboot.

So from that you are graciously giving him another 5 weeks? Jeez.

I’m glad I wasted time to reply to get such a smart one back.

Did you not see some really decent football tonight? That can be built upon? Or am i completely wasting my time talking?

Wasting your time.

MattInManchester wouldn’t have a clue about the game as he didn’t see one bit of it. He’s looked at the result and gone trigger happy.

Literally laughed out loud, quality stuff.

We need results soon just to calm things down but I'm definitely not worried yet. Cook has been a success at every single club he's been at yet people are ready to drop the axe on him in a few game just as we've built an entire team around his philosophy, laughable.

We're creating plenty of chances already and we've yet to have any where near our starting back 5 in place. Yes we've been done over by poor opposition and that shouldn't happen in any circumstance, but I'm currently very chilled. Bring on Burton!

Cook won't be going anywhere until January at the earliest. The owners are too invested in Cook to do anything earlier than that. You make a good point about questioning Cook though. I, personally, was critical of him last season and his inability to get a tune out of the players we had (Wimbledon and Northampton defeats were utterly embarrassing and totally unacceptable imo regardless of the context). If we don't win AT LEAST 2 of the next 4 games (Burton, Cheltenham, MK Dons and Wycombe) then questions should be asked.

Yes cook is constantly being treated like a god,I knew from last season how bad he is.think it will dawn on most fans eventually, but we need to progress, and with cook here,Ipswich will be going nowhere.bring in a good professional manager, then we can build a team around him.

Based on the Chairman saying that patience is required. It won't be anytime this year

That worked out really well for the previous owner.
