Thoughts from Bolton mate ahead of tomorrow 22:30 - Sep 10 with 5194 views | unstableblue | “We’re playing some excellent football this season. The addition of a few players have changed the team. Unfortunately our attack just aren’t finishing off the positive play. Look out for Santos our Centre Back tomorrow, he’s real quality!” I think Bolton are a step up from what we’ve played so far. And will have a lot of possession. Tough to get the much needed win. COYB

Oh herbz. You keep forgetting these clubs are league 1 clubs the same as us. What league they were in is irrelevant to what and who they are now We dont even know yet what level our squad as a squad even is let alone feel the right to find all opponents as little due to where they once were.

They're in League 1, ergo they aren't that good at football or they'd be higher than League 1. Stop viewing being a League 1 side as being some sort of badge of honour ffs, it's pathetic.

Erm. We are league 1 because we havent been good at it They got back to league 1 due to a promotion so showed they were good at winning games of football more than others. I still believe we will win tomorrow. And I hope our run begins with it. However the OP is within their rights to say this is probably our toughest task this season so far.

Thoughts from Bolton mate ahead of tomorrow on 05:57 - Sep 11 with 3837 views | Chrisd | Watched bits from the Burton game on Monday night and he did look a very decent defender - imposing, strong and decent with the ball. If Bolton don’t go up, I’m sure there will be clubs from the Championship looking to take Santos off their hands.

Thoughts from Bolton mate ahead of tomorrow on 06:37 - Sep 11 with 3790 views | Cols21 | Santos was absolutely rubbish on Monday against Burton (as were Bolton despite having a bit of possession). He looked a bomb scare and nearly gifted them two goals clumsily trying to play out from the back. If he presents the same chances to our array of talent they won’t get away with it. He’s rights about the attack though. It was toothless, they won’t lay a glove on us. We’re going to smash them. 4-0 I think. They lost to Cambridge Utd and drew at home to 10 man Burton in their last two games, failing to score in both. Fancy trying to talk them up as some sort of challenge.
Thoughts from Bolton mate ahead of tomorrow on 08:15 - Sep 11 with 3564 views | Vic | They may be a step up, but we hav3 a team and squad that should be a cut above them. In all honesty, is there a club in Lg 1 with a better squad than ours this year?

Absolutely not. There’s barely another first eleven that is as good on paper as our second eleven. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Was sharing someone else’s view on Santos. Every report about him I’ve read has been positive, great stats, he was up for League Two player of the season. Let’s see how he fairs today, hope he does gift us a goal. Bolton have won 2 games, and drawn 3. We have drawn 3 games. We have no divine right to win. Bolton in my view are better than Morecombe and Cheltenham as the table states. I prey we win today and go on a run… then we can start being bullish.

You win games by having the better team, having more desire to win and having the better system of play. No one can argue we don’t have the best squad by some way, and far superior to Bolton. Our confidence has been really knocked by individual errors, we have fans booing the team, and we’re struggling to cope with lesser teams playing up against us. Cook despite some glimpses of what’s to come hadn’t settled the system, partnerships have not fully formed, and critically we’ve not adapted to subs and system changes from lesser teams in the second half. We SHOULD win today, we MUST win today… but it is not a foregone conclusion

‘Our confidence has been really knocked ...’ Has it though? I’ve heard this line trotted out a few times, but is there any evidence that it’s been ‘really’ knocked? Not wanting to be critical but I’m not sure that kind of unfounded rhetoric helps really. It just calls for people (like me!) to respond! You are right though that a win is not a forgone conclusion. We have to play well and that’s the managers job. It’s a shame we won’t have Morsy starting for a while, but the new keeper and Edmundson starting (presumably) should strengthen the defense. Going forward and scoring hasn’t been a problem so sim expecting a win today.

When Wimbledon scored their first the collective head dropping and collective energy drop for me was very noticeable - I don’t think there was the confidence, belief, that we’d stay on top in the game and stay on the front foot Well that’s my view anyway Yes Morsy not being to play is a blow, also I think edwards gives us pace But we should have more than enough to win COYB [Post edited 11 Sep 2021 11:40]

That’s probably because Wimbledon equalised in the 95th minute

Yes their heads did drop, and so they should have done. It was so disappointing. And I agree That they may not be so confident of a win as they were at the start of the season. To me your comment read that is was seriously eroded and I don’t think that it will have been because there are so many extenuating . I think we’ll win this afternoon.

It wasn't meant to come across as an attack on you. I know the Bolton fans' views on him, including of the game on Monday where they all though he was amazing despite absolutely gifting Burton with their only opportunities through complete ineptitude. With the squad we've assembled and the resource we've expended on doing so we absolutely should be bullish and should be swatting the likes of Bolton aside with ease. Pay no mind to Cook's preemptive excuses.

I hope we win today, in pray we win today… do I think we will?! Maybe my confidence is also heavily eroded. One thing about Town currently and confidence and mind set, is that the pressure for a win, the pressure to get the monkey off the back, the pressure to justify the investment by the owners - it just must be huge. Yeah I know - they’re professionals, yeah I know it’s a much better set of players… but that pressure will be front and central in the Bolton managers team talk Get into them early, turn the crowd, make them nervous… we score early and then build pressure we can win

Thoughts from Bolton mate ahead of tomorrow on 11:47 - Sep 11 with 2951 views | jayessess | Got a bad feeling about this one. Bolton sound like they've found a good rhythm to their play, put a good run of results in going back a fair old way and generally are pretty upbeat about life. We've yet to find a win, the manager sounds down beat and doesn't seem to have a clear idea of what's gone wrong so far beyond "time". Scared that this feels like a game when we lose 2-0 and get played off the park, looking like 11 strangers. I've been optimistic for every other game this season, so hopefully my mood is rubbish though.

Show me a defender that doesn't make mistakes in a game whether that's the EPL or L1. Have a look closer to home when we've gifted the opposition goals because we can't mark up properly from set pieces. Our defenders have been far from perfect so far. People in glass houses and all that.....

I’m here for this ^. We’re so used to being crap that a lot of us get the excuses in early, and I’m as bad as anyone for that. So we need more of this ‘fk em’ attitude; I’m fed up of being pessimistic all the time. No reason to fear anyone given the supposed quality of our squad this year (although we’ve heard that before!).

Especially as individual players are built up to such as extent. I mean, Walton and Edmundson are supposedly Banks and Maldini reborn (ok, so there is at least proof Walton is decent at this level) so, if they come in, we should have no problem at all.

Have to agree with this. Our squad should be getting promoted. There is not one game we shouldn't be aiming to win. Of course there are other good sides but so what? Our aim is promotion and we need wins.
