that Mick really did get the basics right.

Yes...he had to go. He's got unfinished business here though....I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

Basics? We almost lost to Burton if it wasn't for having an actual keeper and told us to f off against Norwich before making the club look like an utter mug on that day. I'm sorry but he had to go.

He told "people" who had abused hiim for ages and sided with Norwich fans to eff off.... he should have a statue for that alone.

Bunch of snowflakes and manchildren. Anyone who does that and bleats about being Ipswich is full of it.

The football under McCarthy was terrible. Boring. I'd rather have this. I think he first and foremost saw it as a job. I doubt he has any great love for Town, could be wrong but that's the feeling I get.

Has he ever returned to the club for a visit?

Totally agree bud. I'd take a 5-2 drubbing over a boring 1-0 win any day.

I genuinely can't remember - which came first, him telling us to eff off, or our fans turning on him? I'm only referring to the 'normal' football chanting btw, not to the 'paedo' chants which were utterly disgraceful & inexcusable.

Specifically, the fans turned on him at Norwich at 0-0 when we’d had the better of the first half with Iorfa causing them problems down the right.

Then Norwich got on top. Mick replaced a tiring Iorfa with Spence and then the chants came. Spence did a good job, we worked ourselves back into the game and then snatched a late goal. Mick rightly told those fans to eff off.

Should have ended there. But an even later equaliser muddied the picture. The group of fans that were chanting about his football were wrong and misjudged the game and his substitution. But probably came away from that game emboldened and free to boo our younger players after that.

How much longer would you allow this to continue before that is a serious prospect?

The way we played today is an indication we are in big trouble.

I would give Cook four more league games. Get the list ready and get someone lined up if needed then if we can get them in a day or two after Accrington they can have 4 days on the training ground.

Why do people always go to extremes? Most want neither to be bombed out 2-5, nor to grind out dull 0-0s or games without any entertainment apart from a single goal.

Like it or not, people actually want to go to games for at least some modicum of entertainment and excitement. If it were only about the points after 90-96 minutes, we could all stay at home & get the same kick from looking up the results.

Gates were steadily dropping under MM.

Indeed. I never felt insulted or disrespected by Mick.

Pretty clear it was certain fans and their behaviour that he lost it with – at that game and subsequent ones.

The players had great respect for Mick, including players like Knudsen who played in a World Cup.

He brought in Moore, Mings for pennies.

Looking at Ireland, Stephen Kenny is also trying to pretty things up and the results are not coming, losing at home to Luxembourg and drawing with Azerbaijan. Thanks to a late goal.

Our defending under Cook, our order, our bite - we’re playing as if we have minds like Swiss cheese.

I don’t see how Cook can turn this around. I could easily see Mick doing it but that won’t happen. We need a new messiah. This time to save us in league 1.

Im almost certain he doesn't see Ipswich as unfinished business. He's more likely to say 'f**k em' after how it all ended.

Careful, I got slated and ridiculed a few weeks ago for suggesting Mick would have got far more than 2 points from the first few games. Mick was and is a great manager, he got the absolute best of what he had available.

Just because it has gone wrong since MM left doesn't mean we were wrong to get rid. It was time. I'm tired of a few on here acting like it was some sort of glory period. We were first division Stoke. We used to take the piss out of Stoke in the Prem for how they went about things yet some keep trying to suggest it was brilliant here under MM. It was toxic at the end.

Very good manager who everyone should look back on fondly but it was equally as sh1t.

He did the best he has with what he had available. He’d have got this squad, in the third division, playing decent, winning, football.
