Boris renegotiating the Brexit deal 10:12 - Nov 8 with 6275 viewsEireannach_gorm

... Or aiming for a no deal Brexit.

UK is going to trigger article 16 of the Northern Ireland protocol, a move both Dublin and Brussels expect in the coming days ( presumably after COP26 ).

Old report:

Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney is upping the ante now.

Be very interesting to see how this aggressive bad faith approach to negotiating works for the UK.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Political opportunism/naked ambition rarely has a strong relationship with reality and facts.

I think some form of trade war once the impracticalities and costs of Brexit became apparent was always going to be the outcome. Unfortunately it’s also a price the UK population was always going to have to pay and not our politicians.

Basically as long as we're at political war with Europe, the conservative party will always lead the polls / be elected.

He's standing in the garden going 'Ooh! Look! A squirrel!' to divert attention away from the sleaze mess he's created, hoping that his backbenchers, who are clearly fed up with him will rally round.

He's not even clever, is he?

Good thing too. Northern Ireland is a part of the United Kingdom not part of a senseless collection of sovereign states trying to play the part of a powerful game in world politics. They are showing the world their might by arguing about the delivery of sausages and such goods between parts of a sovereign state. With any luck people throughout Europe will come to see they are being treated as a commodity and will eventually break free. The whole situation is shown to be run in a loaded way where one or two countries ( namely Germany and France) try to punish countries for having policies not in line with the rules but avoid the same action when they are breaking the same rules.

Agreed, it's definitely the EU's fault that they expect us to stick to an agreement that we negotiated and signed up to.

I enjoy your satirical comments on the situation. Perhaps a little more humour is needed to make it great!

Possibly better than a senseless collection of non sovereign states trying to play the part of a powerful game in world politics.

How about the aggressive bad faith from the eec ? I expect to collect a lot more down buttons simply for having a non socialist viewpoint. The problem with this site for anything other than football is it has a deeply ingrained socialist bias and a lack of toleration for anything else. That is only to be expected .

What has the EU got to do with socialism? And what is "bad faith" about sticking to a bilaterally agreed international treaty?

Many people seem to label anything to the left of Pinochet as 'socialist' or 'Marxist' without being able to understand either term. It's actually quite worrying.
