People on here claiming Lambert would've done better on 20:33 - Nov 29 by Keaneish

Under Lambert the rhetoric was: the football is ponderous; we don’t create enough clear cut chances; we haven’t got a 20-goal a season striker; we don’t get enough shots on target; the squad is bloated and unbalanced; he keeps changing the squad; too many ageing players on big wages who aren’t good enough; we’re not adventurous enough…

All of that has changed in one summer and yet there’s still moaning and now revisionism saying Lambert would do better or we’re still not as good as Lambert’s side! Everything we wanted to change has changed and we now have to wait for that to come good. Until then, can you do us all a favour and stop whining about what you haven’t got?

Can I whine about the fact that we've got a mid-table third division team? 'Cos that's what I HAVE got...

Again.

Bothering to answer...

No, it's clear that the club is on the up. The new owners won't allow anything else long term.

But you all keep crying its not happening immediately

I'm not expecting us to be sailing the HMS Pisstheleague, but I don't think that actually being competitive in the third division on a Championship budget is that big an ask.

And yet, here we are. 7 points off, with more defeats than victories under our belt.

As a point of order it’s 7-6-7. So victories = defeats. Before you say it, there isn’t anyone that thinks it good enough. I expected us to challenge for the top two. On our budget we should be doing better.

Four months down the line we are not. The question is really do we stay patient or try as many managers we can to find the right one? Embrace, get disappointed, get rid. I reckon with could get through a couple more by seasons end. There were plenty on here after Cook after a few games. ‘Ruined the best squad in the league’ etc.

First up, the bloke at MK has done really well. He doesn’t employ the bozo who washes the pants and I’m sure there are people here who’ve vetted his coaching staff already. Does his record compare with Cook’s? Would he be a good fit for the club or like Duncan at Chesterfield, is he on a bit of a streak? I don’t know. That’s for the owners to decide.

What I do know is that this idea that Lambert was a better manager than Cook is for me laughable. Just a view.

What is wrong with our fanbase is a weird obsession with new managers who aren't Mick McCarthy.

What is weird with our fanbase is making things up to pretend things are better without Mick. It was such a train wreck with Hurst but even that started at the beginning of his tenure, despite the fact it was demonstrably false.

Then Lambert came in and relegated us without so much of a hint of a fight and the same fans claimed the football was so much better.

Some even said they were looking forward to League One. Those same fans questioned Marcus Evans' ambition, for the irony meter to explode.

Then we get Cook who completely and utterly abjectly fails at record levels after coming into a team that was in good form having strung a couple wins. Build on that? Nah, rip into the entire squad until confidence is at an absolute zero then rip into them after that for not being brave.

Funny Cook has started to put blame on players again recently.

Its actually concerning as a fanbase that there are these threads criticising fans in the first place. There aren't very many if any clubs in the country that would have the numbers support us every week home and away with the awful recent history we've had.

It's a concern if cook is blaming players again because it basically translates as "there's nothing more i can do". Keep in mind most of the things managers say in the press is designed to motivate players though, not necessarily speak honestly to the public.

What is it you're most enjoying about being a mid-table third division side?

For the third season running.

ZZZ old news Dav. Keep up.

Why condescend people for reacting to your militant defending of an (often wrong or mistimed) point of view. Changing your mind regularly is perfectly fine, but expecting your credibility to not be impacted by that is fanciful.

As for the OP - I don't think it's so much as claiming that Lambert would've done better as much as it is a case of Lambert actually did do better. Better, in this case, is based on points - However, people have also been quick to acknowledge that Cook's team shows more exciting football more often than not.

There are very fair observations, but not the same as saying 'Lambert In'

You can in MAY, not in NOVEMBER! Perspective. Cook is fine tuning at the moment. Some of it is working, some of it isn’t. A little more patience required from all.

who cares about credit, I said keep up. If he's taken the time to post a direct response to me, then at least make it correct.

It's been a long time since i've sat and defended PC, I've even said i blindly followed him based on past success and hope for the future, and in one stated how that defense based on hope, turned to frustration and then turned to where I am now.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

I don’t think Cook has said anything particularly untoward about the players this season. He did last April and that was stupid. Basically if a manager talks in general terms about individual errors, what’s wrong with that as long as he keeps names out of it?

I can’t imagine the Chelsea bloke didn’t talk about that after his defence’s two woeful ones on Sunday v Man U. It’s about balance. For example, to go the other way, McCarthy’s defence of 0-0 at home with 10 across the back against rubbish and the consistent arthritic awfulness of Douglas by describing him as a ‘proper bloke’ was derisory. He needn’t have bothered.

I actually wonder about these post match interviews. They never say anything worthwhile. Good entertainment from Roy Keane and wondering if Paul Jewell was actually sober are my highlights of the post match interviews.
