...would a guy who has reportedly turned down the Ipswich No 2 job working for Paul Cook because he see himself as more of a No 1, suddenly do a complete about face and take the job of No 2 to KD in the U23s?

Hmmm?

It's definitely strange.

Someone with his experience going in at u23 level. Doesn't make any sense with what we have on the bench coaching wise.

Because no managerial position has been or is available which appeals to him. Not exactly rocket science or brain surgery.

But the reason he didn't want the No 2 job is it seemed like a step back.

Surely No 2 to the U23's coach is even more of a step back?

…because he’s out of work, he loves football and has another opportunity to work with his mate. Also, anyone who thinks a coaches role is only as per their job title is way off the mark. McGreal and Cook will now be talking daily and McGreal will support defensive coaching across the board - it’s pretty obvious.

He didn't turn down the number two job, that was never in the offing. At the time of the speculation he wanted a management job and PC equally didn't want someone who might be off in a couple of months.

So, Ashton isn't putting an old head in place so they can fill in as interim boss when he fires Cook, Roberts, Jeffers and the Kitman?

No. That'd require some kind of plan.

Maybe he's skint. He's been out of work a long time.

The state of you two at the moment, get a grip on yourselves, your starting to make this board unbearable again.

All these conspiracy theories are laughable. We clearly need help with defence issues . Do the z club appoint a person who fits the criteria . Hell no doubt soon be involved with the first team / squad.

I doubt Cook is going to be sacked anytime soon. Sorry to disappoint some.

Ever considered an internal shuffle might occur ? Just because he’s been brought in and it’s reported he’s dealing with development and U23’s doesn’t mean that’s where he necessarily remains .

I’d have thought his CV indicates he’s more likely to be involved with the seniors at some point.

So them bring him in as first team coach. And cook can be seen being proactive in trying to solve the defensive issues rather than looking after the defence himself.

PC needs as much good PR as possible.

Maybe he's been told he can leave as soon as he gets a better offer, and meanwhile he just helping out Kieron Dyer while he gets back to full strength.
