Roy Keane "any idiot could get this team out of the Championship"

Lambert "I'm glad Im not married to you" (aimed at Brenner)

Lee Hancock "Humans aren't built to play footballl"

Evans "five year plan"

There must be several others

Marcus Evans’ brilliantly awkward opener to the interview he did through the club’s official channels before, I think, Klug took temporary charge after Mick left: “[turning head around almost robotically] what a beautiful day. out there today. perfect for. some. nice passing. football.”

A) it’s a stupidly fantastic thing to say when you’re obviously trying to impress the fans despite having no clue what you’re doing or saying and B) a not insignificant amount of people lapped it up like pigs at the trough and continued in that vein when cheering us to relegation under Lambert.

Any of Lambert’s ramblings highlight what a pathetic mess we’d become.

Wasn't the pitch in an absolute state at that point too?

Probably. He said it because it was sunny which is an added layer to the stupidity of the whole thing.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

This is a quite superb thread to read. Some absolute belters.

From the EADT article of Cook's quotes revisited. this one made me chuckle from when he arrived:
After his first game in charge ended in a 3-1 loss at Gillingham, Cook said: “Over two years we've probably seen a real big turnaround in players, probably too many coming in and out the club in too quick a time. While my job is to win games, and I accept I have to win games, it’s also to bring some sanity to the club.”

He then proceeded to change the whole squad haha.

Lambert when he took over repeatedly said "the guys just need a little help" when talking about January transfer window

That whole Evans statement a few months before sacking Lambert where he tried to claim the football looked a lot better in the stadium than it did on iFollow. Some absolute classics in there.

'Turn those frustrations into celebrations'
'Green shoots'
'Be careful what you wish for'

The ultimate PR nightmare.

Oh and pretending our fitness coach was working from home.

“The transformation which has taken place with the painting of the turnstile entrance areas along Sir Alf Ramsey Way and Portman Road.”

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

I have remembered a good one:

Stuart Taylor - ‘sometimes it’s better to win 1-0 than 5-0’

They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

Can't remember who said it. Probably someone very wise and smug like Pliny the Elder.

Sorry to kill the thread, but...

"I am therefore pleased to announce that Paul and I reached agreement last month to extend his current deal for an additional four years and we are now able to officially announce the new contract.

We would all, of course, like to be announcing this on the back of a better run but short term performance does not change the importance to the Club of supporting a management team who I believe over the next few years will take Ipswich Town back to where we all want and expect it to be.”
