On the other hand, as he seems to be a genuinely good bloke, he may be really pleased for her and proud of what she has achieved.

But he didn't call her a pretty little lady. You've made that up. You have started from a particular position and have spent your time reinventing everyone's words for them desperately trying to make it all fit.

Just for starters, do you know the people who've made those comments away from this forum? If not you've made some pretty big assumptions yourself - that they're "privileged" "white" and male. I'm female btw.

Commentators frequently mention how players who went on to become great were released from academies for being too short. It's no secret that height is an attribute that gives you an advantage when trying to make it as a player.

So? I think Tomas Holy is a good-looking guy, and my fav player of all time, Eric Gates, was often referred to as "small", "diminutive" etc - not to mention the "low centre of gravity" jokes being endlessly recycled about the shorter great footballers of the world admiringly referred to on BBCR5l 'World Football phone-in'.

Glad you still have nothing to contribute. I find Ashley Cole pretty and short but I already knew that and the thread wasn't entitled Adam Cole. In future, in case you are reading, I will try to balance ay comment I make about a female with equal comment that I might observe about a male in the same context. Oh, and for full balance, I don't find Ashley Cole especially insightful. I trust you will not make any comment about any male without balancing it with equal comment about a female for fear of being sexist!

The point I'm making, which you're all missing (deliberately in my opinion), is that the comments on this thread come across as being sexist. I'm not accusing any one of being deliberately sexist, but they should consider how their posts are perceived. I have nothing further to say on this matter. Let's hope for a good performance and three points this afternoon.

The word "further" is fairly superfluous. As has been pointed out, you have to work hard to see it as sexist. If you are unable to comment on anyone's height, the fact they are attractive, who their brother is, the fact they have done better than their brother or get someone's names wrong, then fair enough the whole thread is laced with inappropriate, sexist comments and should be pulled. Feel free to report the relevant posts as abuse and get Phil to pull it. I do think you are the only one who has read it as sexist, though. Let's hope for a good performance and three points tomorrow afternoon.

Whilst it can be hard to read the tone of posts, esp where there aren't any emojis exclamation marks etc. to help, I can't see anything definitive in what's written in any posts on the thread to describe them as "sexist". You've read between the lines & that's your take, which is subjective. You earlier described the thread as "sexist thread of the year". Seriously, it isn't! And whilst the occasional bit of casual sexism does still creep in here, the entire forum has come on leaps & bounds over the past 10 years in rejecting it and other, far worse sexism that used to get posted on here. I think big kudos is due to Phil, Gav & the vast majority of posters on here for that 👠
