Joe Pigott today 21:30 - Mar 19 with 4944 views | itfcjoe | I don’t like to go after players too much, but think we’d have genuinely been better off with 10 out there as nearly every time he got the ball it ended up with us in a bit of trouble as got players caught ahead of the ball as he gave it away. Thought Bonne was good, and hopefully he can go on a little run from now as looked bang up for it

He looked like he had his boots on the wrong feet and shoe laces tied together, the chance at the start of the second half summed up his day when he nearly tripped over his own feet and lost the ball. Sad to see as obviously a good player in there, but he looks absolutely shot of confidence and like a Sunday league player at times

I think back to the match early in the season (can't remember who against) at PR when he missed a penalty. In terms of confidence, that moment was pivotal. Much like Fraser missing his. Score, and the season might have panned out differently for him/them. [Post edited 19 Mar 2022 21:44]

He scored a penalty against Wimbledon at home in August. Are you thinking of the penalty shoot out in the Pizza Cup?

Could be that I'm thinking of. He's certainly suffering with confidence at the moment. I rate him, but just hope he can turn it around.

He needs a run of games for rhythm and a few goals but at the same time when he Plays like he did today, it’s hard to justify him being selected for next weeks game. I thought up at Morecambe( if I recall correctly) he played better and done enough to start the next game and he was dropped. It’s a hard one to know if we keep him, as he will probably go elsewhere play and score goals.

He was lucky to get to half time for me, and just carry someone like that to find form though isn’t possible - it’s a real shame but just doesn’t seem like it will work for him at the moment - just needs to come back to pre season and hope it is a fresh start

Unfortunately there was nothing he's done today to justify starting next week. On the contrary, Bonne has probably played himself back into a starting position. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

He's Sam Parkin with even less goals. Never going to happen for him here unfortunately, let him go. Striker don't really ever recover from seasons like this at the same club.

Joe Pigott today on 22:01 - Mar 19 with 3237 views | norfsufblue | I actually think he will be fine over the long term and I have been an advocate of his previously but he was poor today although he wasn't helped by three early poor refereeing decisions where he was fouled as he was gaining control of the ball. He never looked confident and was running like he had wellies on at times... I would like to see him and Bonne( who looked much sharper today) paired together as I'm sure there would help each other out up front... not likely to happen though

Let’s hope so, he’s got some ability and is at a good age profile for us also.

Today was the best I’ve seen of Bonne since before Christmas, thought he was bang at it today and on showings like that you think it’s a no brainer having him here next season.

Agreed, but why has it taken so long for another decent showing, go missing in a game maybe, but half a season………..

There might be some off the field stuff going on that we aren’t aware of. Some people can put that to one side others can’t, we are all human beings at the end of the day.
Joe Pigott today on 22:38 - Mar 19 with 2985 views | DarkHorse | He was terrible. He slows up our play, loses control, rarely gets in the box and offers little threat when he does. I hope that's the last we see of him in a blue shirt.

Not suited to KM style of football , and that’s his problem , likes the MM style up in the air and scrap in the box , Wimbledon style !

Personally Although McKenna has done great picking him before any of the other strikers I can't fathom think he will be gone in the summer
Joe Pigott today on 22:57 - Mar 19 with 2904 views | textbackup | Pigott was absolutely atrocious today. He’s had many chances here, he’s got to be got rid of one way or another asap, waste of a shirt, waste of time. Non league strikers have more quality than him

He was dreadful today but has actually been in decent form, performance wise, recently leading up to Oxford. McKenna has done a superb job with us but one thing that will baffle me is, after our clinical performance against Burton, he decided to change it against Cheltenham. We've struggled to convert chances since then.

Joe Pigott today on 23:07 - Mar 19 with 2839 views | jeera | Felt for him. He looked forlorn when he came off but it's not happening for him. The ball bounced off him, he had opportunities to do something today and he just didn't have it in him. Heck knows if it's confidence or what but the club can't afford to keep taking chances. We should have won today and there were simple errors knocking about that need to beyond us by now. When you consider some of the class we have there are some glaring gaps that need to be filled, such is the gulf in quality between some of our own players.

Joe Pigott today on 23:25 - Mar 19 with 2762 views | itfcsuth | Looked poor today didn’t he. Couldn’t make anything stick, doesn’t have the pace to press when teams play out from the back line. Losing Jackson a blow in that respect. As with MK Dons, Oxford try to play from the 3 CB - whereas Jackson pressed well at MK, it’s not Pigott’s game. Looks a depleted figure, you don’t score 20 goals at Wimbledon if you’re a bad striker, but sometimes it doesn’t work out at certain clubs, and it doesn’t feel to me he suits the style/system of KM. I’d like to see him move on in the summer to find form again, but suspect he will be on good wages so may be difficult to shift.
Joe Pigott today on 23:34 - Mar 19 with 2727 views | TheBoyBlue | Got the impression from what McKenna said afterwards that if anyone is likely to get a run of games up front it is Bonne.

Can't see there's much use in us having an attacking player who always "needs a run or games" to get going. How often are we going to be in a position to let someone have 2 or 3 poor games in the hope that eventually we get a performance out or them?
