Joe Pigott today 21:30 - Mar 19 with 4942 views | itfcjoe | I don’t like to go after players too much, but think we’d have genuinely been better off with 10 out there as nearly every time he got the ball it ended up with us in a bit of trouble as got players caught ahead of the ball as he gave it away. Thought Bonne was good, and hopefully he can go on a little run from now as looked bang up for it

Joe Pigott today on 23:34 - Mar 19 by TheBoyBlue | Got the impression from what McKenna said afterwards that if anyone is likely to get a run of games up front it is Bonne. |
Yes. McKenna sounded like he had lost patience with Pigott and was very complimentary about Bonne.

But when he has had opportunities he simply hasn't taken them, he looks gun shy and devoid of confidence. I know he had a good season last year, but when you look further back he has never been prolific, last seasons goal tally was a one season wonder. Can't see him being a McKenna type striker, think he will be moved on in the summer and maybe it would do him the world of good. [Post edited 20 Mar 2022 8:24]

Can only think he’ll return to Wimbledon but, if it’s a transfer, we’ll lose put heavily. More likely it’ll be a loan with them subsidising his salary.

Wasn’t he a free transfer? So if we get say, 100k, that’ll help offset the wages we’ve splashed out at least.

Joe Pigott today on 22:18 - Mar 19 by davblue | There might be some off the field stuff going on that we aren’t aware of. Some people can put that to one side others can’t, we are all human beings at the end of the day. |
There is off-field stuff going on that we are aware of. The pressure he must put himself under to score all the goals and get us promoted must be insane. Clear case of trying too hard for me. If he wasn't such a big town fan, the first few games without a goal probably wouldn't have affected him so much and it wouldn't have turned into what it is. On pigott, shame but whatever. Next.

Joe Pigott today on 14:43 - Mar 20 with 1050 views | Brads | I’ve been surprised that McKenna’s given him so many opportunities recently in comparison to the others. Can only assume that he had half an eye on the future and has tried to play him into form given his contract length and wedge he’s on. Find it hard to believe that he genuinely just thought he was the best option on the day however many times? Last few games it’s been noticeable that we’ve put decent crosses into good areas and no-one’s been there. Someone like Norwood would have probably been in the right place for a tap in but it seems that because he doesn’t fit the evolving style and won’t be here next season he’s less involved. That lack of cutting edge and not being able to beat the teams above us has cost us, obviously not taking the start into account.

I thought he was well offside for Celinas goal, if it had clipped him it would have been ruled out.

Joe Pigott today on 21:46 - Mar 19 by Fixed_It | Could be that I'm thinking of. He's certainly suffering with confidence at the moment. I rate him, but just hope he can turn it around. |
the way it's going, I can see him moving on, going somewhere else where he fits better and looking a different player again, it's a real shame because I think there is a player in there I don't know what's going on with Tyreece Simpson, perhaps he's off and again that is a shame because he looks our best prospect since Wickham or Rhodes really Whatever happened to Ben Morris by the way?

I find it impossible to see what Pigott offers. While this season hasn't gone to plan for him, which hasn't been all his fault, from what I've seen he doesn't win the ball in the air, he doesn't hold it up well on the ground as his touch is poor & he has little pace. Quite frankly, he looks like someone who won a reality TV contest to play in a professional match. Unless I'm missing something & it's a confidence thing & he's good on the training ground, I can see him leaving on a free in the summer if anyone is willing to match his presumably high wages.

Tbf, first half yesterday was much worse than his last 2 appearances, which were nothing special but weren't competition-winnery. Strikers are tough to find and there was plenty of interest last Summer. Shouldn't be impossible to persuade someone that they can find 2020-21 Joe Pigott in there somewhere.

I tend to agree about Pigott leaving but then why has McKenna persevered with him so much? Unless the club wanted him to do his best to try and make him come good before deciding to cut their losses it’s a strange one. Bonne couldn’t have really complained about eventually being given a break but can’t remember Norwood having a similarly long baron spell when fit. I’m sure they both feel hard done by when Pig gets played ahead of them. Personally think either would have been better options in the short term but they’re not under contract for next season.
