Potentially some fans favourites for the chop next season. 17:19 - Apr 2 with 7018 viewsFrimleyBlue

Can't see us just wanting a couple of strikers and a lwb

Chaplin.. aluko.. burns.. celina

All club favs. But will they be KMs when he has the chance to change things a bit..

It's hard to say which one or two might be replaced. I just can't see all of them being required by KM when we have struggled against lower sides and struggled to score goals.

Arguments for each of why they should play
But also arguments for each on why they might not.

Aluko lack of goals
Chaplin.. what exactly is his strong point.
Burns.. hero. But is his delivery good enough? Can we carry him when he's marked out of a game...
Celina. Might not be here anyway... but also is league 1 to low for him and players not good enough around him to read the game like he can

To add to this as everyone lost their minds at the thought of replacing some mentioned.

Chaplin 2 goals in 25 games
Celina 2 in 20+
Aluko 2 or 3 all season

Burns has literally carried the side thankfully but can still be reminded of the times he's thrown away very very good chances. Or passing opportunities and rarely puts the ball in the box from deep

It's a difficult one as they have as individuals all contributed to such a great level it would be hard to imagine the lineup with any of them..

But are their individual weaknesses resulting in us failing in certain situations.. that is what I'm unsure of.

Sometimes I have just thought it's just the strikers. But can he be that simple when we've tried various strikers who've not exactly been goal shy..

Again. People are playing the poster not the post here and getting all emotionally attached with the players mentioned. I get that. But that's the point of the subject line.

Another way to look at it is that even Kayden Jackson came back into a front line supported by those players and started scoring.

It's the other strikers.

Same as today. Nice and chilled tbh.

Think some are a bit emotional but fair enough emotions are high after a loss.

You'd build a league that can win promotion. To do so you may need different types of players.

With how we've struggled to win certain games and how we've struggled with certain situations I can see us bringing in players with perhaps different abilities than those mentioned.

But no. Let's just stick with whats failed and hope for the best

You realise you're talking to someone who's been watching ITFC play since before you were born?

I've sometimes rather stupidly been prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt, but not any longer - whether trolling or serious, you're just a waste of everybody's time.

Here's a parting gift from me, an improvement on your current pair of specs -

I think tactically our approach does not suit either Norwood (who really needs to play in a two) or Pigott (look at his prowess at a more direct Wimbledon). Bonne had a golden patch at the start of the season but seems very low on confidence now - does he have the pace to suit the way McKenna has us playing? Jackson is the only one who is in form and suits our approach.

I think Burns has been fine for us. Celina is infuriating because he can do the brilliant but flounder over the simple. Aluko and Chaplin are inconsistent; they can be brilliant in some games and non-existent in others. Neither of them are given a run of games as McKenna likes to switch them around; I think he needs to focus on one and force the other to perform from the bench in order to get another opportunity.

As for next season, I think Burns and Chaplin will remain as I said before. Is Celina a luxury we can not afford due to the cap in place? At the top of his game we need him but does he hit those heights enough? Aluko's age may work against him.

Yes. Wondering if we will ( and how ) we improve the final third lineup is clearly throwing baby out the water.

Bizarre how this forum gets so worked up over something they don't like.

OK I get it. Let's just pick the same players next season and hope for the best. Its worked for promotion this season so why not.

He won't play champ football. Not enough composure and to easily taken out of games.

It's funny tho. You all jazzing over a midfield group who are collectively part of the same problem of not being able to win certain matches.

Strange people

All hail the footballers who look good occasionally.

Lol, I’ve missed that one maybe if we had a super rich owner who turned us into a Man City, Chelsea but without that we wouldn’t get that price nowhere near!

Because they’re fulfilling the role their role more than adequately? Accusing Burns is a stretch but have Aluko, Celina and Chaplin been consistent enough? I think the honest answer is no; they have certainly not scored enough and do not have as many assists on their record as we would have expected for players of their caliber. Why is that? If it’s down to their performances then maybe there will be a shake up in the summer and McKenna will bring in others who will he’ll hope to fulfil the brief better. If it’s tactical then something needs to shift and, in truth, the warning signs have been there for a while.

For me, the big issue is we don’t seem to get many players in the box. The number of times we get the ball and drill it across to one or two attacking players and a plethora of defensive players. But that, in turn, might explain our strong defensive record so it’s a difficult balance to get right.
