Which of them didn't have the credentials to do the job?
Overall I think punditry suddenly becoming much more diverse has been a massive positive for football. It's much more interesting now. It badly needed a freshen up from the old days.
Now we actually get pundits with a bit of personality.
The best bit about the people complaining about 'woke' is the hypocrisy.
Every single companies main objective is to make money. In the case of TV it's viewing figures. Football has the white, middle aged bloke locked in. So anything they can do to get everyone else watching is a move they'll make. Simple as that.
But the same gammon have absolutely no problem when Melanie Sykes cleavage is used to maximise the amount of people interested in their beer. Works both ways.
Advertising, representation, whatever. It would be great to have it balanced but ultimately most companies do whatever is best for their bottom line.
On this occasion I wasn't massively impressed with the pundits, especially Owen, but that seems to be the case on most channels now.

I put football on within seconds of kick-off, do something else during HT, and turn it over as soon as the game finishes. TV coverage of footy is dreadful.

I have radio 5live comm on & the TV sound muted. Quite apart from better comm, it gives you about a 10 secs warning that a goal's coming! as radio's always ahead of TV signal, & I'm usually multitasking with food prep etc whilst half-watching.

Interestingly Munich is fewer than 100 miles from the Alps. It's properly distinct in its culture from most of the rest of Germany.
German and Austrian mountains are interesting places. Very different and generally very hospitable. Spent lots of my youth skiing and loitering around Austrian and Swiss bars.
Wengen and the Bernese Oberland are a specifically great spot but God knows how much a beer is now. I learnt standard German so when I went to the hills and everyone spoke Schweizerdeutsch (Swiss German) it was a bit of a shock to the system. Normal German TV has been known to subtitle Swiss German.

Yeah, punditry was awful but that's more often the case than not.
I time it to get the kick off, turnoff/over during half time. back again for the second half. Turn over at final whistle. Don't ever listen to the punditry waffle, it's just hot air.
