What a ridiculous line of questioning.

I suspect he knows that most of the attacks on the union by the government and right wing press are lies. I also suspect that he knows that this bloke knows what he's doing as he's seen him in other interviews. This was a blatant attempt not to address any of the issues and focus instead on something absolutely trivial.

I'm convinced he would have interviewed Hitler at the height of his evil and asked questions about his silly little moustache rather than you know, genocide, invasions or ideologies.

Concluding with 'Mr Hitler, your Facebook profiles suggests you like the film Hot Fuzz, which is a very funny film, so I think this only really proves you're just a normal bloke, who is misunderstood, that likes a laugh'.

Hahaha!

That may be the thought lazily bouncing around your brain, but it’s b@ll@cks.

But have a go at backing that up. A couple of lines will do. Then I’ll cross-stitch it and frame it so I can start every day with a smile.

The proof is in the statements made by him regarding nationalisation of the railways, banking and anything which can be seen to make a profit, although without the billions supplied by the state the railways do not, and the constant overmanning which he will protect to his dying day.
He yearns for a return to the days of beer and sandwiches in no.10 to enable the country to be dragged back into union control. I just hope I do not live to see another labour/union government in this country. It would take even longer to get the country back to a sensible existence and positive future.

Nationalisation of public utilities and services isn’t communism. It’s an option for all countries even with an essentially capitalism-based economy and society. And you probably already champion nationalisation for health and education.

In what way is the rail service better and more sustainable now as opposed to decades ago? And how are the man in the street and businesses benefiting from exorbitant rail fares? I think you need to change where you get your information and opinions from. Because they’re rubbish and delusional on these grounds.

That's because he is a Marxist/Communist

Did you get that from Richard Madeley?

Trade Unions gave us sick pay, maternity leave, minimum wage, all stuff that wouldn't have been given by asking nicely.

Ultimately workers should be entitled to fair pay, fair conditions and have their jobs protected to a degree. When this is not the case what other power do they have but to strike and say we make you fat cats £500m a year profit and you're mugging us off. We have earned you that and we want assurances.

It'll end up with the workers getting a fair deal and the fat cats only making £400m a year profit the poor loves.

But people seem to think that they should just be grateful and take whatever they are given like good little slaves. You know what, it's understandable to cut jobs or hours or safety measures or not increase pay when everyone is suffering.

When some w*nker of a Tory donor at the top of the tree is helping the organisation make hundreds of millions in profits at the expense of the workers and telling them the same things it's not acceptable.

Trade Unions are just a kid at school whose football it was, that are largely happy when it's 5 against 5 and the teams are fair. Currently it's 8 v 2, all the big kids are on one side and when one of the two little kids removes their ball and says they'll only return it when things are fair and not massively lopsided, the big kids throw insults about and call them names.

We can all agree when that kid is taking the ball away because he wants 8 people on his team then he's a d*ck. But Lynch is simply using his powers to try and ensure the people he represents aren't shafted and have to suffer while more fat cats lick up the cream that those workers have churned.

The general demonising of trade unionists has never been a good thing. Len McCluskey was also a force for good but was marginalised as someone working against the country rather than for its workers.

The disparity in seriousness and real-world relevance between someone like Lynch and his interviewers in the politics/media goldfish bowl is marked.
[Post edited 23 Jun 2022 9:44]

That is a very unfair comparison.
Len McCluskey was self-serving liar and hypocrite. Mick Lynch is not.

Lynch was supported by British Communist Party when he ran for the leadership of the union, he has already said he admires the unions from the 70s and wants that power back again. I'm not sure how many of you on here were alive in the 70s but the unions along with a weak Labour government dragged the Uk down with the three-day week decimation of the motor industry dock strikes causing shortages in the shops and the winter of discontent. That's a period that I don't want back again thank you even if it seems the left-wingers on here would love it. The government put 16 billion into the railways to keep it running over the covid period so the rail workers would have jobs to go back to and passager numbers are now only two-thirds of what they were pre covid, now is not the time to organise a rail strike but this is obviously a Lynch vanity project who sees himself very much in the mold of Scargill!

You realise the people running the Labour Party aren't the same people who were doing so in the 70s? You must get confused when Ipswich run out and Paul Mariner, Mick Mills and Alan Brazil aren't there.

Points of order:

The Three-Day Week was one of several measures introduced in the United Kingdom in 1973-1974 by Edward Heath's Conservative government to conserve electricity (Wiki)

Duncan Cairncross has some interesting views on the British car industry - https://www.quora.com/What-was-the-main-factor-behind-the-decline-of-British-aut

The dock strike of 1970 (approx 2 weeks - dispute over wages. Conservative Govt)?
Or the dock strike of 1972 (approx 3 weeks - dispute over jobs. Conservative Govt)?

And as for the railways.

"Six out of the 20 franchised train operators were expected to pay dividends
totalling £38 million for the 2020-21 financial year, equivalent to 0.3% of total
franchised operator income".

https://dataportal.orr.gov.uk/media/2036/rail-industry-finance-uk-statistical-re

Well down on the £250+ million the operators have collectively paid in dividends in previous years but a dividend nevertheless. So when IS the right time to organise a rail strike?

There dies seem a daily need for righties to show how thick they are - do they not believe us when we point out their stupidity. Is it not taken as read ?

The UK railways are currently receiving far higher subsidies than they were when nationalised. So efficient are UK companies and is privatisation ................. that they all, pretty much, are owned by EU state owned companies.

Perhaps rightie, could tell us why EU state owned companies should be running our railways.

Maybe the huge profits they make would be better used, invested by the UK, into UK railways.

And I wonder, as barristers look to strike, whether they are communists as well

That's because he is a Marxist/Communist

To save you reading Marx I'll sum up for you:

A Marxist believes that the means of production should be in the hands of the workers; they then all share equally in the benefit of their labour.

Our Union leaders want a decent wage which reflects the outcome of workers' labour rather than profits going into the pockets of shareholders (and in today's economy, company executives).

Unfortunately, in practice, 20th century communist states completely corrupted Marxist theory, thus giving the right an opportunity to denigrate it.

Wanting improved pay and conditions, while a right wing government wantonly wrecks so much of our lives, is NOT Marxism.

Please don't throw the words Communism / Marxism about when you don't understand their meaning, even if the Daily Hate fills your head with the words.

Journalists have almost all been very poorly researched from what I've seen.

Given there is no such thing as the British Communist Party, your claim of support should point others to the accuracy of your nonsense.

Industrial action in the early part of the 70s came about after Anthony Barbers (Tory) disastrous 'Dash for Growth', with a QUADRUPLING of oil prices in 1974. That there were widespread industrial action throughout the now EU suggests you are like other righties and follow a 'stabbed in the back narrative of history. ie no relation to the truth but suiting your warped sense of perception.

Ir should be remembered that when Nissan built their factory in Sunderland they invited the union into the factory, to work with them. Rather than continue the Tories outdated Victorian idea that employees are the enemy, and need to be provoked into industrial action, regularly.

I would suggest Phil removes your post as, were it to be seen outside this forum it would certainly be libellous. But I think it better serves as a testament to the lies righties will spread on behalf of their betters. And a measure of the stupidity that they assume that others did not live through those years, and/or could easily look up stuff.

Never forget it was French right-wingers that rounded up Jews in France in WW2. The dirty work is always done by the 'kapos' *

* recruited from the ranks of violent criminal gangs rather than from the more numerous political, religious, and racial prisoners
