They may not be responsible for the current situation in Ukraine, but they are responsible for the impact of it upon those living in the UK. They are also wholly responsible for the fact that ambulances are piling up outside hospitals, and elderly people are waiting over 10 hours for urgent assistance.

There's a fag paper's difference between the two main parties on most of the big questions about the economy and public spending. And most of these are legacy issues from decades of underfunding and looking at short-term or pocket-filling measures. I agree the Tories have turned a lack of care into part of their brand. But in practical terms an almost total lack of interest in changing the status quo will mean Labour aren't going to deliver much more either. Unless we can find a way to generate energy from hand-wringing and the hot air of empty platitudes.

I agree. This is the same labour party that bankrupted the country last time. Its a choice of incompetent Tories or incompetent Labour! Unfortunately 2 years of shutdowns have furthered the decline, backed by an unchallenging opposition who wanted to lock down harder and faster and then wonder why we are in trouble. Of course I must not challenge the narrative.

Whilst Labour were at the wheel for the GFC, and most definitely could have done some things better including tighter regulation of the City, it’s staggering that people still believe that the Conservatives are “the party of the economy”. On the Tories’ watch, we’ve seen the national debt absolutely balloon, stagnant growth due to lack of state investment in infrastructure, highest tax burden since the 1940’s, and not to mention had our sovereign credit rating downgraded. Economically illiterate.

By incentivising the lazy pensioner to work harder, clearly. Just because they are pensioners doesn't mean they can't pick crops, drive lorries or retrain as a nurse.

Please do elaborate what you think the Tories are responsible for. Higher inflation than most other countries; Corrupt Government spending; Corrupt Government application of rules; Higher fuel costs than most other countries; Higher national debt than most other countries (and rising); Labour shortages; High levels of child poverty; Greater differences in affluence across society than most other countries (even to the degree that they themselves pay lip service to a "levelling up" agenda); Years of failed "austerity"; The Brexit referendum and all that entailed including the version of it they have chosen and applied and including the threat to the union; Sewage being released into the sea at 25.5 times the rate it was five years ago; Cuts to public services; Strikes due to many of the above all on their watch. Which of these things do you not hold the Government accountable for? Why shouldn't the Government be held accountable for governing?

Please enlighten me when this country was declared bankrupt. Then tell me the level of debt at the end of the last Labour Government and the level now. The twist of the Tory spin doctors is to get you to believe that they are better with finances than Labour are. All they are better at is cutting taxes and decimating public services and racking up debt as a result.

The people on low incomes Single people get little help What they should do is put the tax threshold up to twenty thousand That would give people a chance Average people in the pocket would spend more and a lot they would get back through vat Going to be lots of hassle in the UK come winter |

Given I said nothing of the sort I'm neither. I do blame them for killing tens of thousands needlessly, for undoing years of social improvement which Blair and Brown got right, for mass corruption, tax avoidance, for being soulless vultures who put a for sale sign on everything not nailed down, for laying and lying across the benches of parliament whilst calling us lazy, for trying to pay people in claps, for the terrible performance of this nation since Brexit in almost every measure, for demonising foreigners, the poor, the LGBT community and punching down at anyone to avoid scrutiny. They're nowhere to be seen as the wave hits and that speaks volumes about these bastards.

Lockdown was more than justified, even if it was one of the worst things to happen to me in many ways. The problem is, as with anything it didn't apply to your Lords and masters who carried on as they wanted whilst the rest of us shouldered the responsibility. Always too late to have been really effective. By all means challenge the narrative, in fact I'd love to see the arguments you have and the facts to go with them.

Quite. It's bizarre how people like this poster acknowledge how little most people out of work receive before then inventing different amounts others get who are anecdotally in the same position. "He's my mate so he's struggling, but I don't like them so they probably get free driving lessons and everyfin'. And they smoke. I bet they drink too and have a TV." [Post edited 26 Aug 2022 16:07]

Higher inflation than most other countries; We are 75th on the "league table" of inflation with countries such as Spain and Poland with higher %. Higher national debt than most other countries (and rising); Number 33 with countries such as Canada and France higher. Greater differences in affluence across society than most other countries; Not greater than "most countries", no. 98 on this list, although among the highest in Europe and the "Western" World.

I hate this POV. I know people who vote Tory for this reason and it’s utter sh*te. You’re affectively saying that you’ll continue to vote for the plebs who ARE screwing over the country rather than for Labour just in case they MIGHT do the same. It’s ridiculous.
