Fair play to him I say, sure he could’ve skipped the queue. Phil Schofield and Holly Willoughby getting some stick on twitter for doing just that.

No. If people feel the need to queue for hours then it wouldn’t be right to treat people differently simply due to their status.

Probably wouldn't sit well with him if he did, he's a pretty down to Earth bloke by all accounts. Must be annoying being hounded by the press though, as if waiting for 12 hours wasn't bad enough.

David Beckham is in the queue on 14:42 - Sep 16 with 3127 views | BlackShuckBlue | Fair play to him. I imagine a busy and successful bloke like him has plenty of other things he could be doing. It does make me a little sad to think that there are a fair few people out there who would love to have the time, wealth and resources to be able to wait in the queue too, but can't. I myself would love to be there, it's a massive moment in our contemporary culture and to be a part of it would be something to remember, but can't get away from work and it would be hard to justify the cost to be honest. How about you SitfcB? Thinking of heading down? Shame that there's isn't some kind of travel assistance for people who can't afford the train fare to London.

Apparently not spotted by the press until he got to the last bit, someone on twitter saying he was buying drinks and donuts for people around him.

That sounds like one for Mark Ashton to take away.

I think these people get used to being bothered in what is essentially their ‘private time’. I was at Lords on Tuesday watching the cricket and during the afternoon my buddy nudged me and pointed to a bloke at the front on his own. It was Joe Root watching his brother playing for Glamorgan. Needless to say, after a while somebody noticed him and asked for selfie with him. Then another, then a couple then a load more and so on. Eventually he had to move. He was polite and courteous with everybody. It was sad that he wasn’t left alone. I view it as rude, but having seen the a few times with celebs over the years, it goes with the territory I suppose.
David Beckham is in the queue on 15:09 - Sep 16 with 2192 views | BlueandTruesince82 | You know Becks gets some stick but I like the bloke. He's always seemed a genuine guy to me. Always remember him being the only united player to stop and sign autographs when they came to FPR, think it was when were still in the PL but may have been a cup game but stuck in mind that and had plenty of time for him ever since. It was even more impressive given he'd just had 90 minutes of the North stand singing something not particularly nice about Posh Spice. Consummate professional and darn right good bloke by all accounts. Hell of a player too.

What exactly, other than a very long queue, is it that you’d be a part of?

A great point. While Root is paid very well, as befits his status as England's best batsman & former captain, it's not hard to see why celebrities spend much of their social time in private areas etc. Mike Atherton lives locally. A friend of mine saw him in my local pub & he bounded up to him like an over-enthusiastic labrador & started asking him about some incident in a country game he had witnessed umpteen years ago. I didn't see him in this pub again!
