Can't agree with the fans blaming the ref, he wasn't too bad against one team (relatively).
Morsy booked for a 50/50? Looked like a red to me.
Annoying from Chappers, what a silly place and situation to try and buy a foul. And Edmundsen... Jesus. Frustrating errors/decisions costing us rather than being under the cosh particularly.
Good game though and fair play to the Pilgrim scorers, cracking strikes. We didn't have our shooting boots on. We will come back fine.
Agree with Blooters re subs. Easy to forget how green KmC is though... he'll be learning from all this (presumably).

Not biased, I'd see the incident the same the other way around. No doubt part of his motivation in rnning across the Plymouth player was to draw a foul but that's part of the game.

Nah Hammers. Chappers runs into him and falls over trying to buy one. It's ridiculous. Not like you to be so biased man.
Yep, in real time it looked like a foul, but Chappers was trying to be cute in a dangerous area of the pitch, and it didn't work with dire consequences.

That's how I saw it, and it was really naive/cocky imo. I rate Chappers very highly so feel I can say that without feeling too rude.
Btw Hammers, not calling your integrity/professionalism into question by any means re bias comment, obvs x
I'll have to take your word on Morsy as I've not seen it again, but re Chaplin, he moves towards the ball and into the player's path, drawing the foul. Quite legitimate to put yourself between yourself and an opponent when battling for a loose ball in that manner. Free-kick Town, no goal!
if harness was a foul against barnsley that was worse on chaplin. i think some couldn't wait for morsy to have a average game. the ones who were crying out for a bit of steel in the side

I thought same as you re Morsy in real time, but the Sky replay showed him lunging in hard, miles away from the ball.
Totally agree with you re Chaplin (tho haven't seen a slo-mo replay) - who looked to me as though he just legitimately blocked their player & was then deliberately & illegitimately pushed over.

I think people are being harsh on Chaplin. I don't think he was looking for a foul. I think he just made a poor choice to try and hold their player off with strength and was fairly outmuscled.
Legit goal, no complaints. I don't believe he was playing for the foul though.

I have to say I thought the Morsy booking looked harsh from where I was sitting at the time, just looked like two players colliding as they made a challenge, which I think was how SM saw it from his reaction. I've not actually seen it again and can't find a clip.
Just watched the first goal again and looks a foul on Chaplin to me, is just knocked over as he's getting himself between the player and the ball. Think most refs would have blown up.
In real time on TV, Morsy's foul didn't look bad but from the replay it was a clear yellow & some VAR types might have made it red, as these tackles always look far worse in slow motion. I thought Evans was unlucky to be booked; he clearly won the ball & the Plymouth player was a fraction late & arguably fouled Evans.

Just seen it again. He clearly catches the player's shin with his studs, and certainly could have been a red. Whether he intended to do that, I'm not so sure, player slid in front of him and may not have been able to check his stride. Not sure slow motion helps in these matters as the speed of the incident is obviously a big factor.
The Evans challenge in the first half, I assumed when I saw it with the sound down at half-time Sky were picking up on Evans being caught halfway up his shin by the Plymouth player rather than his initial challenge, which was rash if not late and high unlike the Plymouth player.

Look again at the Chaplin one Phill, if he doesn’t look over his shoulder for the man before moving into his path to try and get a foul then there’s no debate, he never followed the ball but went for the man

Don't think there was any intention to con anyone, just draw a foul.
I’m amazed at how many are falling over themselves to make Chaplin the bad guy here, the Plymouth player comes straight through the back of him and takes him out, I thought that was against the rules.

Which, if we're honest, is the same thing. You get fouled, you don't go looking for a foul.
Those free kicks are infuriating* Ignoring the fact it had an impact on the game for a minute, I'm glad Chaplin didn't get away with it. Well done ref.
*You're right, they will normally get given, but that doesn't make it right. Do we not want to see fewer soft free kicks given?

Indeed, looks a straightforward foul to me.

I don't think he's being made out to be the 'bad guy'. He's too cute for his own good sometimes tis all. Even if I was taking the view he WAS fouled, still a silly ploy trying to draw it it there and then. And I'm a huge fan of his.

Of course they're not. It's part of the game to put yourself in a position where the opponent fouls you because it's difficult for them to get to the ball.

I think that's a different point; was it the best way to defend the situation? Perhaps not, although it was a bouncing ball so not easy to get away immediately.

Kick the ball would have been the best option.
Or better still jump for the header. Probably wouldn't have won it but it may have meant the ball didn't sit kindly for their goal.

I'd agree if it wasn't for him being halfway to the floor before the player touches him

There's nothing wrong with looking for/drawing a foul, perfectly legitimate.
I suspect the fact Chaplin went down so easily meant the ref thought there'd not been any careless play from the Plymouth player. It was the wrong game to try that, as the ref had been letting physical battles go all game. You see those given as fouls often, but not in that match.

Also didn't help that twice in the game Chaplin had a freekick given against him for backing and ducking into a player. Probably explains again why the ref didn't give a freekick.
