80% of cars will be produced in China within 10 years, it's a lot easier to produce electric cars and labour is so much cheaper in China. It's irrelevant how much subsidies other country give, electric cars are a big leveler in the car industry and the cheap labour costs in China will undercut all other car producing countries. You'll have some high end car producers in Europe producing very low volume but the mass market will be filled entirely with cars produced in China. |
Don’t agree with that. They will make most EV’s for a while, but only because they are further along the EV route than the rest of the world at the moment. Labour won’t stay the cheapest in China for long. India will be the “new China” well within 10 years. Structural changes are also underway to wean the east off reliance on China in things like EV cars. Near and friend shoring will bring some of the manufacturing technologies out of China. It’s more the production of batteries than the cars themselves, and China does dominate that, at present. Currently all of the top 10 battery manufacturers are Asian, six of those in China. China also bought more EV’s last year than the rest of the world combined. |  |

Fairly sure I've seen Chikkers make the odd interesting point.
