I'm sure every footballer (or pro sportsperson) wants to go out on their own terms but you'd think he'd seriously consider retiring and finding something else to do at this point. An injury as serious as that at his age would be hard to come back from properly you'd have thought.

Poor bastard.
In some ways, he was very lucky to return to the game after his leg injury at Brentford. This will almost certainly finish him off, you'd imagine.
Always seemed a solid pro, but post-leg injury he lost more than a yard of pace and dynamism that he had in his peak Brentford career. |  | | |

Could never doubt his effort here but what had made him such a coveted asset at Brentford, that extra yard of pace to beat a man and create space for himself, was gone. As others have said, to come back after another year out at this stage of his career will be a tough ask. Everyone at Town should wish him well.
