This will probably come across harsh, but assuming we can replace him 21:44 - Dec 29 with 4316 views | Garv | Edwards is gone in January or next summer, isn't he? Just doesn't produce enough and sometimes looks like he's actually trying to give the ball away. Pathetic performance from a player brought on to impact the game. That cross at the end summed him up.

This will probably come across harsh, but assuming we can replace him on 21:47 - Dec 29 with 3218 views | Illinoisblue | I want him to succeed, but he’s got work to do. That misplaced pass near the end to Aluko… it’s a basic five yard pass and he messed it up and we lost possession. Got to do better.

And for me, we desperately need a player who can go past players. The passing is intricate and easy on the eye but I'd love us to have a player who can beat a man regularly.

Aluko's class. Seems to have time on the ball that other players don't find.

This will probably come across harsh, but assuming we can replace him on 21:48 - Dec 29 with 3126 views | Dubtractor | Pathetic is a bit harsh, but you need more from an impact sub. My thoughts a week or so back..... Kyle Edwards by Dubtractor 22 Dec 2022 10:50I wonder if we may see him move on in January?
Clearly has some talent, but still seems to lack much end product in terms of goals and assists. This talk of Jack Taylor being on the radar, and with Aluko back in the fold, Harness returning soon, and Chaplin clearly a McKenna favourite, makes me wonder what role Edwards has going forward.
I'd rather him stay for squad depth, but wouldn't be surprised if he was one that looked for a fresh start. McKenna has generally only started him when we've not got any choice, so I'm not sure how much he rates him.

I agree to an extent. He's a class act but his goal/assist record is extremely average.

This will probably come across harsh, but assuming we can replace him on 21:49 - Dec 29 with 3043 views | RobTheMonk | I don't think our formation does him any favours. We don't really play with wingers as such - the width is from Burns and Davis who are more wingbacks. That doesn't suit Edwards' game. He's more suited to a 4-3-3.
This will probably come across harsh, but assuming we can replace him on 21:50 - Dec 29 with 3037 views | Mullet | Prior to that he beat his man or won a foul pretty much every time. We simply didn't pass to him enough and when he did cut in and stand it up our front line gambled the wrong way, Burns did similar in the first half when it doesn't matter as much.

This will probably come across harsh, but assuming we can replace him on 21:52 - Dec 29 with 2967 views | ArnieM | Tbh I thought both Harness and Burns weren’t at their best tonight. Teams generally seem to have sussed how to close Burns down. As for Harness, well it’s two games in quick succession after a lengthy lay off so can’t be too harsh on him. We need a clinical striker and a decent CB who can defend balls into the box , that’s my view. We don’t take our chances snd we constantly gift soft goals !

Yup. But Morsy has shown he can beat a man, did a couple of times tonight and one led to a goal. Wish he would do It even more. And that's meant as encouragement, not criticism. [Post edited 29 Dec 2022 21:52]

This will probably come across harsh, but assuming we can replace him on 21:52 - Dec 29 with 2958 views | LankHenners | Been a bit of a tough gig for him recently - seems to be relegated quite quickly down to 'impact sub' when we have players in attacking positions fit. Shame as he had that spell a few weeks ago where he looked very positive but hasn't been able to build up any consistency.

Aluko kept occupying the space blocking balls going to Edwards. Like Aluko a lot but that was frustrating. Edwards always positive with the ball he just couldn't get it enough as you say.

Neither thanks, just have an opinion that when you break down what he brings it isn't a great output. I never get too excited to see Aluko and Jackson introduced and I'm rarealy disappointed.

Aluko has largely been a very good player for us. One average man and likes of you are quick to criticise him.

Again, I didn't say one game - he is clever on the ball but for me tries too hard to beat a man when a pass is on and often loses it or ends up down a blind alley. Not going to get on his case as he's still coming back from a nasty injury but like I said, it doesn't fill me with hope when he comes on - maybe because he's always coming on with the equally ineffective Edwards and Jackson such is the stretched nature of our up front options at the moment. Everyone sees things different I suppose but I'll refrain from calling yours thick or stupid.

This will probably come across harsh, but assuming we can replace him on 22:06 - Dec 29 with 2650 views | Vegtablue | I think 'pathetic' is a bonkers description. He probably had as much joy as Burns in the time he was on. Beat his man a couple of times, showed urgency and one very loose pass. More merit in your middle paragraph but it's a criticism that shouldn't be confined to him tonight or maybe even laid at his door, considering time on the pitch and the absence of chances before his arrival. I thought Edwards and Jackson helped spread the Pompey defences more than was the case before they came on.

But those assist stats are a nonsense. Last season he played a defence splitting pass that allowed Davis to roll the ball across to Bonne (I think) who had a tap in. That apparently was only a “pre assist”. Ignore the stats - he is so clever on the ball and opens up the game for others. He’s a cracking player

No, the one he attempted with his left foot after turning inside, and floated aimlessly into the keeper's hands. I think you're referring to an earlier one from.the byline.
