Just to confirm 09:56 - Jan 3 with 4364 views | textbackup | A point at Portsmouth is ok if followed up with a win at Lincoln A point at Lincoln is ok if we’ve won at Portsmouth the game before The two, back to back, it’s ok if we have a desire to win the league, or even look to be pushing for top 2, imo. We face Plymouth next, and if we fail to beat them that’s top spot gone as far as I’m concerned (their continued form can’t be ignored) Leaving a dog fight with sheff weds and barnsley for 2nd. What a real shtshow December, and yesterday has been. Massive month ahead for them all down there

Just to confirm on 11:04 - Jan 3 by chicoazul | How many clutch games have we won recently? Absolute pearlers real six pointers you know the type. Cos at least a few of those look like clutch games to me. Very clearly the gambles taken with Camara and Ahadme has failed hence the chase for Taylor and Whittaker. If we go up fine who cares but if we don’t then we have to look at those two late signings - and the failure to bring in real class instead of them - as a large part of the reason why. As I said a while back (and got shouted at about) this club is on a real knife edge right now. Failure to go up will almost certainly see us sold. Who knows to who? |

I think we're a million miles off that Chico sorry This is a long term investment which has always been stated Not suggesting things could perhaps change in terms of personnel but I also thing that's miles off As for being sold if we don't go up ...it's a no from me

There's a large amount of assumption there.... on 10:39 - Jan 3 by Bloots | ....which is fair enough I guess, but I struggle to see how you can say that you "really fancy us to win" against Plymouth. I fear that's very much based on a blue tint, because there is little, if anything, to back it up. I think that 8 or 9 points from those games is a more realistic expectation. What are you basing that on re Argyle, Blooters? Current form? Fair enough but form is fluid innit, and in the only head to head we were by and large the better team and should have got at least an (away) point, but for a rush of blood and a couple of worldies.

Just to confirm on 11:03 - Jan 3 by JakeITFC | It has been a shiitshow December in terms of results but tbh having watched every game I don't really understand why - Fleetwood we were terrible and yet it took a flukey last minute goal to stop us winning, two strong home wins, a bad day at the office v Wycombe and still felt hard done by to lose and yesterday was annoying as hell but we surely win that 99/100. It's hard to comprehend and appreciate it when it keeps happening but we really have been unlucky a lot this season and it is easy to lose sight of how much better we are from this time last year - we are the better side in every game we play and have come through a sticky patch still in touch and without the wheels coming off like they have in every other League One season we've had. |
I know it’s been said a million times, but a striker, someone to create something for himself or be in the right place at the right time, and we probably have an extra 3/4 points from them games. Ladapo is ok at what he does, but that’s where the quality stops for us.

I've just looked at the fixtures and tables after all the possible Plymouth 9 points clear posts. Now I have only glanced at this but unless I am wrong Plymouth play Bolton away next and we have a cup game. If Bolton (who beat Barnsley 3 - 0 away yesterday) beat Plymouth and we then beat Plymouth the following week we go above them? Still plenty of twists and turns - I think we need a Paul Mariner / David Johnson / Marcus Stewart type mid season injection though.

I am broadly with you on the knife-edge — not quite with you on the imminent nature of any sale, but agree this is probably the best chance we will have in terms of advantage over the rest of the division and fan enthusiasm too. We're all nervous, it's understandable, this needs to happen. We've been good — or much, much better than in recent reasons — at home against the decent sides. I think four points from Plymouth/Sheff W is realistic and would be more than fine; we're capable of winning both. I also agree re Camara and Ahadme, the former in particular had "long-term problem" written over him in flashing lights. Hopefully he comes good, seems a great lad and certainly a nice player, but it makes this window all the more crucial and we need to do excellent business. [Post edited 3 Jan 2023 11:18]

Just to confirm on 10:54 - Jan 3 by Metal_Hacker | I tend to agree and without being classed as a "happy clapper" I'm still relatively positive for the most We've had a bug going around the club for a week or so as alluded to many times ,so to come away with the points we have from the fixtures we've had with everything else considered - I'm happy (ish) Of course it could be better but we've known our issue for ages now Low block teams we struggle to break down and out finishing is unconvincing at times Get a clinical finisher in and a midfielder who can unlock a defence and I'll be quite happy with the situation An introduction of a new face or two also breeds an extra competitive edge for places. Burns for me needs competition to get his energy levels and fight back allowing JD to be more combative , aggressive and attacking .The middle two , Mosry and Evans whilst I still think they're superb together for the roles that they play , they lack the cutting edge pass Give me THAT midfielder and THAT number 9 and I'll be happy Everything else will slip into place Keep the faith guys |
Have an uppie, even though I'm a naturally very pessimistic Town supporter :)

....pretty much every metric points to them being favourites to beat us. They are above us in the league. They beat us last time we played them. They are above us in current form. They are the 3rd best team away from home, we are the 5th best team at home. Of course there's every chance we will win, but to say it's expected is tinted with blue.

I think we just need to play Ladapo and Chaplin every minute we can do so (until reinforcements come in), without them on the pitch there isn't anyone who is just a selfish shot monster and we need that - like a James Norwood type You could play Jackson or Ladapo in same roles and Ladapo will have 5 shots and Jackson will have 0, same with Chaplin and Aluko.....when I saw team yesterday with no Ladapo or Chaplin I thought we'd be too shot shy

I think we'd expect to win every gome at home, obviously we won't do but we shoud expect to as Plymouth and Sheff Weds will as well. Be interesting to see when the line comes out, but I imagine we'd be clear favourites

Just to confirm on 10:44 - Jan 3 by LankHenners | And if you extend that down through the rest of Feb we have Bristol Rovers away, Forest Green at home then MK Dons away, so two relegation fodder and a tricky away but against a team we've beaten comfortably already this season. In the same period Plymouth have tough aways at us, Wednesday, Bolton, Peterborough plus home to Derby, whilst Wednesday have Wycombe and Barnsley away plus obviously the games against us and Plymouth. Like you I see this as a real opportunity. Disappointing not to pick up more points over the last month and we definitely need a bit of help in the transfer window to give us a different dimension and avoid similar frustrating patterns but it's not as if we're miles off and can't get back. A bit of a break from league action has probably come at the perfect time (although I'm sure McKenna and the club will want to beat Rotherham and will feel they can) just to get some bodies back and buy a bit of time for an outside addition or 2. |
I really don’t think we’ll be too concerned about beating Rotherham and for once I’m hoping we actually go out. The momentum has been lost and our league form is now vital. I’d sooner go out of the cup and finish the season automatically promoted than say get beaten by a Premier league side in round 5 but finishing in the PO’s.

Oh the league is everything absolutely but the match will be thought of as an opportunity to get a good result. If we lose I don't think anyone will be that bothered but there's no doubt a victory against a lower Champ side will give a timely confidence boost.

Just to confirm on 10:08 - Jan 3 by Dyland | Isn't it Morecombe next? (The following is not aimed at you Texters)... Fans are so funny and many should find a different hobby, judging by the comments. Yes, we all get frustrated by results and performances (I do anyway), but the spurious logic, fallacious analysis, and extrapolation to the season and table after every result is really tiresome. We get the same smorgasbord of schadenfreude, clueless negativity and trolls after every little wobble, even when the "wobble" is an away point. As has been said before, there are many who love it when we don't win so they can talk bollix and pretend they are right. It's so fooking tedious. |
No, Rotherham in the FA Cup then Plymouth.

They "battered" us for about ten (maybe fifteen) minutes. We gifted one of their goal chances with some errant defending. The other was either a blatant foul on Chappers in the leadup, or a bit of sh1t trickery that went wrong.
