Constant changes driving me mad 07:52 - Feb 15 with 5061 views | onceablue | 3-4 changes to the side every match it’s ridiculous that’s Kids football Not only that McKenna then regularly makes at least 3 subs every match as well Pick what you think is your best 11 and stick to it If the players who are left out don’t like it tough Do Plymouth, Wednesday, Derby make these amount of changes cause they don’t and that’s why there are able to put a decent run of results together They also have experienced managers which helps. We seriously have a chance of missing out on playoffs which I am sorry but this would rank as one of the biggest failures in the last 20 years

Agreed, FWIW I don't think Ladapo is the right option for that role, for me he's not strong enough to carry that position on a constant basis.

5 subs is an absolute joke rule. I’m not a fan. Of course it favours us at this current time with our alleged fantastic squad, but the higher up the football pyramid we go the more it will sting us in the tail.

At the start of the season everyone felt we were light on strikers Ladapo is a reasonable striker at this level but we have never really had the depth there McKenna was after Hirst for a while, there's clearly a player in there but I'm not convinced it has worked out as he would hope I thought Collins last night looked useful and runs the channels, something we don't really have with our other strikers I've no doubt if we got to the Championship and I appreciate we are some way off with that currently, we would look to bring in some Championship quality strikers

Constant changes driving me mad on 13:40 - Feb 15 with 875 views | ElephantintheRoom | To my mind rather too much of this season has been spent on ‘the future’. Even the recent spate of signings is apparently an ‘investment for the future’. That May in part be true. Sunderland, who scraped into and through the play offs last season now look as though they repeat the feat a division higher, whilst Wigan and Rotherham, arch pragmatists who got promoted with ease have struggled woefully. IF Town go up in the play offs all the current woe will quickly be forgotten. If they don’t - or Wycombe squeeze them out of the play offs then both Ashton and McKenna are in an untenable position All three of last season’s promoted clubs have changed manager for various reasons. I very much doubt McKenna is here for the long haul whatever pans out

Constant changes driving me mad on 11:02 - Feb 15 by pointofblue | This same argument was made when our form took a nosedive under Lambert, after rotation worked to an extent for the first part of the season. |
We barely rotated in our good run under Lambert.

34 players used that season. Can't have all been used only after December surely.

Yes the problems with Lambert started when he decided that rotation was a good thing because he’d seen Pep etc do it.

Our good run was August and September. Skuse and Downes in midfield every game, Norwood and Jackson up top. Then Norwood got a knock, Nolan and Nsiala came back from injury, and the Lambingo started. [Post edited 15 Feb 2023 15:02]

Lambingo, There's a name I haven't heard in years.

Constant changes driving me mad on 09:24 - Feb 15 by Marshalls_Mullet | Look at Liverpool when they were at their best under Klopp, probably the most energetic club in the country, running more than most at high intensity. Yet, Klopp had a pretty consistent first XI. And frankly, recruitment should be in sync with our style of play and sign players who can play to that level of intensity week in, week out. KM tinkers more than he needs to. |
But Klopp is known for burning players out.

"To my mind rather too much of this season has been spent on ‘the future’. Even the recent spate of signings is apparently an ‘investment for the future’." Certainly agree with that. In some ways I think we've been trying to run before we can walk - said during the Jan window that Championship players & Championship style ain't necessarily what gets you out of L1. Horses for courses etc. - sometimes you need ugly battlers to plough coarse fields. Talking of fields, our pitch hasn't been exactly helping us - someone pertinently mentioned about 10 days ago that players may be training on better pitches & finding it hard to replicate routines on the PR pitch.

Constant changes driving me mad on 07:55 - Feb 15 by Herbivore | Nobody was complaining when he was rotating and making subs at the start of the season. I don't think that is our main problem. |
The start of the season is acceptable to be fresh for the end of the season. We’re heading toward the end of the season so now there’s no need unless you sign too many forward players and not enough midfielders and bloat your squad and big profile players need game time.

That's nonsense though. Players are more in need of games off to keep them fresh after 30 games than they are after 3 games. And McKenna did this last season too and nobody was complaining.
