A body found in the search - obviously not identified yet but you’d imagine it must be her

Closure for the family, but not the closure anyone would have wanted - so sad

Very sad and the worst is it probably still won't end media speculation and rumours as to what happened.

Some of the rumours and opinions on Facebook by the hordes of armchair detectives have been absolutely disgusting and most probably libellous.

I actually found the expert brought in by the family and his tendency to announce a lot through the media very distasteful too.

I am sure it is natural for people to speculate and the media makes money from this but social media and its ability to spread what people choose to say must be very upsetting for people involved.

I felt a little sorry for the police being criticised for having revealed personal information, when that was only an attempt to quieten down the absurd storm of wild speculation surrounding the case.

I suspect we will never know and I expect speculation will continue to include other, much less plausible and palatable, alternatives too.

I think the family brought the search expert in (understandably) with some desperation. The way the expert speculated in the media put pressure on the police to justify their approach. I suspect both could and should have handled it better.

I have just read that article and found this within it: "The King's College research suggests that four in five people do recognise that serious terror attacks have occurred in the UK.

But, when asked specifically about the Manchester and 7/7 bombings, a significant minority - one in seven people surveyed - have doubts about whether those attacks even happened at all.

And more than one in 10 of those surveyed think the Manchester Arena attack was a hoax."

I am flabbergasted by those stats.

There are a lot of people on Twitter who think this story is fake and that they are all 'crisis actors'.

Twitter is frightening. Makes you realise how many people have a screw loose.

Probably even higher numbers of people who believe soap operas are real and not performed by actors.

Does the 4 out of 5 people do recognise that serious terror attacks have occurred in the UK really mean that 20% of people I meet and interact with do not? Surely, there must have been a specific demographic they were studying there!

It seems Twitter is nowhere near as frightening as Tik Tok if this article is accurate. How many young impressionable minds are soaking this shoite up?

Not just twitter. Noggin was putting forward a pretty distasteful theory about her disappearance before Phil quickly took it down.

I’ve lost count if the number of Madeleine McCann posts on here. Some people get their kicks from other people’s heartache and pain.

If you want a good conspiracy theory about Tik Tok, there's one that China has engineered it to reward as much inanity and unpleasant behaviour in the West as possible. In China kids are rewarded with educational videos and encouraged to watch stuff that helps them.

Whether that's true or not I've no idea, without access to Chinese internet and the language etc.

However, Tik Tok is massively damaging to kids in my experience. I notice more and more the behavioural issues and the opinions which spring from it. The Andrew Tate panic recently being a prime example of enraging already hormonal and developing young men into being assholes for no apparent reason.

There's a piece on the Guardian website from 3 days ago about the release of the (in my view entirely unnecessary) information about the missing lady's health/private life which ends as follows:

"An underwater search expert, Peter Faulding, who was helping to try to find Bulley, said police did not pass his team the information, which he says would “have changed search strategy”."

So, the bloke who said that the police were doing it wrong and that if she was in the river his team would have found her now says that actually they would have looked in a different way had they known this information about her. You were either looking properly for a body in the river or you weren't as far as I can tell.

Terribly sad for all involved and can’t help but feel for those 2 young kids she leaves behind, as well as her parents, partner, friends etc. Must be awful under any circumstances but the media storm around it can’t help.

I overheard someone today say ‘why didn’t they find her sooner, must’ve been dumped in the river recently’. Seems people have moved on from being armchair virologists to armchair detectives.
