Next 3 games are huge. If we find ourselves level with/ahead of them after those then their heads are going to be all over the place. Towards the end of a season, games against the teams fighting relegation also become tougher. We just need to keep winning. |  | | |

It's still a tough challenge to break the top 2 I think, and I think Plymouth have it in their control still, look beyond the 11th March and you don't see too many real challenges for them there.

Their run in on paper is a cakewalk but their fixtures are fairly congested with the tinpot trophy final in there as well and by the end a couple of those teams could be right on the edge of going down and be scrapping for a point. Plus they have to deal with the pressure of being chased which they failed to do last season so anything could happen. Shrewsbury away on a midweek evening isn't easy and we know the likes of Lincoln and Port Vale (who dealt them their only home loss) can be awkward customers.
Just have to keep ticking off the wins as they come and hopefully if we do that the others will slip up. [Post edited 27 Feb 2023 14:08]

They're not as straightforward as people think. I can only see 3 games I'd confidently say Plymouth will get 3 points -- home to Forest Green, Cambridge and Burton. I wouldn't say any of the others are straightforward for various reasons.
They'll drop plenty of points, it's what we do that matters, especially as Barnsley will also likely pass us if we don't keep the uptick in form up. |  |

People overrate these head-to-heads. Wednesday split the difference points-wise with Plymouth and with us and they're almost certain to finish above both. Winning any 10 of our last 13 games would almost certainly be enough (9 might be too), doesn't really matter which ones.

Whilst that is true, they are games against potential automatic promotion rivals that are in our control, whereas we can't do anything about the Bolton, Barnsley, Derby results in other games.
All 4 sides behind Plymouth have a very similar (small) margin for error to get into 2nd now. If we finished this season 1 point behind Barnsley in 2nd after losing at Oakwell most people would point at that result as being pretty crucial. | | | |

If we only draw with Bolton, but your other predictions are correct, we'd still overtake them by end of 11th March. Not impossible by any means, but I think they'll get more than one point from the next three. I'd certainly settle for 7 points from our next three, and take it from there. | | | |
