But who have we beaten in the top half?

Beat Derby last year when they were mid table…. Errrrrr, Portsmouth.. just.

Anyone else?

This is where we have to improve, and no better time than the next 6 games!

Jesus Christ, have a day off. Come onto a forum after a 3-0 win and still someone wants to look for a negative somewhere.

Such a negative angle.. as I say, no better time to pick up points against the big boys!

Wallers is an odd fellow. Two years ago he was desperate to be Paz - a poster too right wing not to be racist, too cowardly to try and be open about it and too dim to disguise it and now he's looking at a man who shat himself in public and decided to build his entire personality around it as inspiration for his next iteration.

Nah, lost me again pal..

Turning this around, who has played us off the pitch this season? Nobody.

In recent seasons, we’ve been beaten with ease by the better teams. Last year it was a breeze for Rotherham and we deserved to lose at Sunderland and Sheffield W. Charlton tore us a new one, as did Bolton. None of that this season.

It’s throwing points away against the weaker teams that’s probably done for us. We’ve lost three games this season and we are improving on and off the pitch. I’m all for delivering stick when earned, but after a 3-0 win following on from three other wins and a few goals seems the wrong time for me.

It might not be ‘Edge Lord’ stuff, I’m just enjoying what we are doing and how we are doing it after years of Evans and his muppets, bar Mick.

We go to Bolton Saturday. We may lose. We may not. But I’ll be very surprised if the play us off the pitch like they did twice last season.

Shrewsbury 3-0 away.
Exeter 2-0
Peterborough 2-1

We have only beaten Derby of the top 7 so far, though.

The next 5 matches would be a great time to put that right. Need some big wins if we are going to trouble Plymouth.

Well the officials have had a good hand in us not beating Sheff Wed home and away and Barnsley at home.

Those sides are up there for a reason so always going to be tight games with few chances so I don't think its fair to say you have to beat them regardless of those poor decisions.

We didn't deserve to lose at Sunderland last season. We dominated them for 80 mins then got done by 2 late sucker punches

Peterborough were in 6th when we beat them.

But we don't even need to have won against the upper-half teams. Not dropping points against Cheltenham, Bristol and Fleetwood (none of them higher than 17th on the eve of those games) would have seen us topping the table tonight.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

To flip that, the only top six side to beat us this season is Plymouth. You could argue that the officials robbed us of wins against Shef Wed away and Barnsley at home.

Top of the table Shef Wed have lost against top six sides in Posh (at the time), Barnsley andPlymouth.

Our position in the league is down to the failure to put away teams we have dominated and a few injury time goals conceded. Nit our record against the top six.

Besides, we still have Bolton, Barnsley, Derby and Wycombe to play so your complsint May no longer be valid on the next couple of weeks.

It was two positives in my post mixed with a single negative, interesting how most have picked up on the negative aspect….

I don’t count Badger or SB, etc. they just have an unhealthy obsession with me and one or two others and offer no discussion.

On a lighter note…. Ooohhh it’s snowing hard in OX10.

Maybe it's because you opened with "Our results against the lower sides is superb this season. But who have we beaten in the top half?" before the players had even changed out of their kit after a 3-0 home win.

If you can't see why that would put a few backs up you're beyond help.

I get 100% why the down arrows and I fully expected it, there is a negative angle after another great result.

But I was making a reasonably valuable point.

What I don’t get and it’s not just me, other posters get it too, is the constant personal attacks, it is verging on bullying. I expect it from certain posters, but lots join in, although to be fair others do stand up to it.

I know I can be negative and yes, my factuation with Jackson was verging on unhealthy, but we are all town fans and all want success, I’d rather you ignore me than keep attacking…. As others have said, you never know what people are going through.

Btw that wasn’t an attack at you Mr Flashing Smile, just a general observation.

I’ll take a breather from here for a bit, and this isn’t me stropping out! Ha. I’ll be back x

The OP was a perfectly reasonable question to ask, but it’s one of those questions that has a fluid answer, depending on when it’s asked over the course of a season. I seem to remember a period of time when we were all happy to have the “not beating top 6 clubs” monkey off our backs, so we’ve definitely beaten a few clubs who were in the top 6 when we played them during the season. However, as we near the end of the season and the cream has risen, I do find it interesting that our results against the teams that compose the play off places currently, clearly show that we have struggled to take points off any of them, unsurprising in some ways, as they are obviously the better sides in the league, but equally, successful and promotion winning sides find a way to beat their closest rivals, something we haven’t done, the fat lady hasn’t sung yet, but top 2 still looks a hell of a job and realistically, we’re relying on Plymouth/Wednesday to mess up.

As for the other stuff, we all know who comprises the “groovy gang” just laugh at them mate, and don’t take anything seriously they must have extremely dull existences to take pleasure out of persistently, personally attacking people on a football forum.

At the start of the season I said we needed to beat the teams that we ought to - which probably equates to 12-14 and then I'd be happy with us dropping points against the top teams. We started out like that, but it is the points dropped against the 'lesser' teams over December and January in particular that will cost us, unless we now start getting maximum points in away games at Bolton, Barnsley, Derby and Peterborough especially. It's a huge, huge ask.

Regarding the current top six you say ‘We have struggled to take points off any of them’. That isn’t true. We’ve taken points off all of them. One win, one loss, the rest draws. We’ve not been outplayed by any of them. That’s ok. The key is not losing to direct rivals.

My disappointment is one point from Lincoln, a loss at Oxford, Cambridge away, Fleetwood and Cheltenham at home, throwing away two points at Charlton (credit to them, but you shut games like that down).

No team wins every game, but just the games in the paragraph represents 16 points dropped. Harvesting just half of those lost points against weaker opposition would have made all the difference in my view.

Constant personal attacks from the 'ambassadors of decency' , the likes of BlueBadger or StokieBlue or others...........mate, they are just the cowards who think they are entitled to insult people for the opinions that don't suit them ! Insults.......from their keyobards as they wouldn't insult you in your face.

So as just TalkingBlues has said.....laugh at them. If your opinions piss them off it's their problem not yours.

Don't take any breather from here. Don't show any weakness. Don't be soft. Bullying as you say? From some posters? Laugh at them. Keep posting your opinions.

Same's been said before about quite a few, & I think it likely that 99.9% of all posters on here are top blokes & top women irl.

Trouble is that a tiny minority (not aimed at anyone in particular, just generally speaking) over the years seem to have treated this place as their outlet to 'vent' when they've had a bad day, & targeted a few individuals as their go-to cats to kick because they can do so anonymously from behind a screen, a bit like road rage.
