Who on here was stitched up by a Bolton fan in 2000? 21:54 - Mar 8 with 3449 viewsMaySixth

right, my Ipswich story

first off, I absolutely gurantee 100% swear on what's left of my folks lives that this is true, ask my brothers, or mates, if you ever meet them

in the aftermath of the barry knight debacle, we're all licking our wounds on the bwfc rivals bit

as was the norm them days, ipswich fans came on giving it the large, dirty northern c***s, got what you deserved etc

i took it personally

so go for a mooch on their section

loads of them on there "i'm a lifelong fan me, can't get tickets for wembley, gutted, beg beg beg"

so I gets this idea

I sign up a fake hotmail and rivals account called "portman_dave"

go on there and say I'm a lifelong fan too, got 4 tickets but mate has dropped out, 2 going spare, I want them to go to REAL fans, no JCLs, so email me telling me why you think you should have them

hour later i login to hotmail and i have loads of mails, loads

spend my dinner chuckling to miself as I read how they met bobby robson on their 5th birthdy, pictures with terry butcher as a kid, you name it, they'd done it

one idiot tries telling me he's that hardcore he went to Grimsby away on a Wednesday night with about 200 other hardy souls, his email account is @hull.ac.uk - clearly at Hull uni, clearly not that hardcore

then one guy mails me this proper sob story - in the past 12 months his wife has left him, took the kids, lost his job, stuggling to make ends meet, couldn't get to the games that season so missed out on vouchers blah blah blah

and leaves me his mobile number 07980 whatever

so I have this other idea

I mail him back and tell him he can have them for free, i'm quite affluent, his story touched me, I'll call you later with details

I then mail hull uni lad and say "grimsby away, wow, that's commitement, they're yours mate if you want them, call me later on 07980 whatever"

end of work I log back in, have mails from them both telling me i'm a right b****** I am and how could I do that to a proper football fans

so I mail them both back saying

"now you know how it feels to get shafted you c****, come on you whites"

I got Wembley tickets and it didn't take that many tickets to get them. One thing is for sure. If the story is true as related, those after the tickets hadn't been to many matches at all and so were far from hardcore fans. Quite an amusing story whether true or not.

Tickets at Town sold fast - we queued - but the final few were available days later to fans simply walking up or contacting the club.

We bought tickets for fans whose first game of the season was Wembley. Not difficult then when a full house was 20k and we got double that number of tickets for the final.

I think I must have queued too. Difficult to remember. But, as you confirm, those who wanted tickets were able to get them.

I went to plenty of games that season but unlike my dad, wasn’t a season ticket holder. Wembley tickets weren’t a problem. Getting a ticket for the semi final was more difficult, but got one ok (legitimately).

I’ve never understood Bolton’s beef over that game. They were lucky to have nine players by the end of it. The ref was very lenient, particularly when they on mass went for him right in front of me after one of the penalties.

The irony is that had they kept their discipline they’d probably have won that game. Their problem.

I sent the club a cheque and got a ticket by return post - arrived on the day they went on sale. They weren't hard to come by.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

To this day, I also dint understand what their problem was. They lost their discipline, they acted like a bunch of thugs and got what they deserved.

Aldo, they spent far longer on the PL then what we did.

Calling BS on this.

Anybody who wanted a ticket for Wembley got one.

We also played at Grimsby on a Saturday that season, Sunday the season before and the season before that, they weren't even in our division.

I was the only one in my family eligible for a Wembley ticket on account of being in the Junior Blues, or whatever it was called then.

The old man comes with me to buy the ticket and gives it a go to try and get extras. The guy we're speaking to is having none of it. Eventually, after much back and forth, the ITFC tickets guy points to the supervisor, halfway across the gym and says to take it up with him.

Me and the old man toddle off to have a chat with supervisor - "Yeah, no idea why hes sent us here pal. We've got a membership card for the lad, and it all looks valid to us".

Supervisor - "No worries, just go back over to him and I'll tell him you're all fine".

Us to the tickets dude - "4 tickets to Wembley please mate!"

Ticket seller looks at supervisor who just gives the thumbs up, having not heard the other half of the conversation.

Jobs a good'un!
