Boom win every game 3-0 like that stat suggests and we end up with 101 goals and 102 points... still probably finish 3rd

Reminiscent of the year (04/05) Bent, Kuqi and Miller scored a similar amount between them. Pretty sure Town had the most goals in the entire football league that season too, scoring 3 or more in 9 games. Notably, we finished third.

What part of that screams I’m not enjoying this season?

Stating that it would have been handy if we’d scored a few more when we drew 6/8 and threw away the top 2 places is surely just fcking obvious?

If a playoff finish, in L1, was your aim for the season happy days, I was aiming slightly higher. But if we gain promotion via that way, great

Because you’ve been very negative recently on here. The old Texters was more fun.

Some on here have acted like we were shipping 5 goals every week the amount of negativity going on. Some even lost faith in McKenna.

He averages 1.9 points over 58 games for us.

If we don’t finish top 2 this season it’s as much as two other teams have been exceptional rather than us being poor. It would be disappointing sure but we’re building something good, we may just need a bit more time although I’m still optimistic we’ll finish top 2 and always have been.

Even if we don’t we still have another shot but I won’t lose my sh@t if we don’t make it. Just be gutted. This season on the whole has been fantastic to watch and I still think there is more and better to come.

Watching us chuck away the lead at the top of the league has probably had something to do with my mood.
We all react differently, don’t we

––––-

We have a great record against the awful teams this league has to offer, if we go on to get some really positive results against derby barnsley and Bolton I’ll be so much more upbeat about a playoff finish… until then **shrugs shoulders** beating Accrington/forest green etc really doesn’t do much for me personally.

Promotion at all costs should be the aim. Wins like last night are a case of job done and a relief. The standard at the bottom of our league is absolutely dreadful and I really hope we dont have to go through another season of playing the likes of Forest Green, Burton and Accrington. I also cant see how we can conceivably keep our best players after 2 seasons of heavy investment here not achieving promotion. I would see the summer as another rebuilding job if we dont go up. Conversely, if we do make it up one way or another I would think top 6 in the championship is achievable next season.

Why do you think we would lose players and who? The players are alledgedly on money comparable to many in the lever above, the recent investment, at a point where we looked less likely to make top two means it seems unlikely that the owners will be looking to cash in or raise funds.

Which leaves the players themselves, if they aren't happy then fine let them go, but I would be surprised if most aren't enjoying playing in a winning side most weeks, in front of decent crowds and being very well rewarded?

To me it looks like we're just on the verge of completing a team in the way that KM wants, yet you seem to feel a rebuild could happen? I wonder why you think that?

You've got a point though people won't like it.

Burnley have scored the same (and let in 3 goals less) but have 8 points more.

Its all very well beating these teams by 3 or 4 and its enjoyable, but it would be great if we could "store" the goals for another game. haha

Because realistically players want to play at the highest level. Chaplin for example loves it here but after scoring possibly 20 goals this season, if there is interest from someone higher up the pyramid ultimately he has to do whats right for his career. The same with Leif, possibly Woolfenden. Morsy didn't want to drop down a level anyway and made that clear. Edmundson looks likely to leave currently, he's too good to be a reserve in a league 1 team. Broadhead hasnt come here to stay in league 1 either, Luongo out of contract but may well stay another year.

Im not saying all of these players will leave, I'm just saying that there will be a desire to play higher up, thats why we brought them to the club.

I just dont see why a lot of people are feeling like its ok to just give it a go but if we dont go up its not the end of the world. I think its very important for the development of the group of players and the club that we go up. Anything else is a step backwards imo.

That's because we couldn't defend sadly, this year our goal difference is pretty healthy, we just have a freakish number of teams having great season

None of those players are likely to attract offers from the Prem and there's virtually no money going around in the Championship, hence us being able to sign Championship standard players because we can pay fees and wages that many at the level above can't. Some players may want to move on but to do so we'd need to receive acceptable offers and that doesn't seem likely for many of them, other than maybe Davis.
