This is more than a bit concerning..... on 18:27 - Mar 20 by Bloots
....the rest of the top 6 are not going to be happy, although obviously they won't kick up about it unless it has a material effect on the outcome of the league.
Which, given how tight it is, it really could.
We'd better have an absolutely water tight case or this could get very messy.
You'd assume for the EFL to accept our postponement proposal in the first place whatever documentation we provided would have been sound. As you say I'm sure that won't stop the insinuation from other clubs that we've cheated or gamed the system in some way, and in fairness if I was Barnsley I'd be more than a bit peeved.
Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

....this is the EFL we are dealing with.
They are clueless at best.

Greg Leigh not in the Jamaica squad for their Mexico friendly on 18:06 - Mar 20 by pointofblue
I assume Morsy being in the provisional Egyptian squad was our third man? And the decision had to be made prior to Egypt releasing their final squad.
Have to think FIFA need to set a deadline for final squads to prevent this from happening in the future.
Leigh was definitely the third man, was called up but then not included in the squad if that makes sense.
Town Surprise as Leigh Left Out of Jamaica Squad20th Mar 2023 18:40 Left-back Greg Leigh has surprisingly been left out of the Jamaica squad for their CONCACAF Nations League game against Mexico on Sunday, despite Town being informed he would be included, meaning the Blues will have only two players away with their national squads during the break.22

So we'll only have Burns & Broadhead away on internationals - does that mean the EFL could rescind permission for us to postpone Sat's game, does anyone know? 🤔
No, even though he wasn't in the squad he was called up.

I'm sure we have adequate proof that we were told he would be called up, but putting myself in the shoes of a Barnsley fan, I'd be hacked off. Extra motivation for them when we do make the trip there. Going forward the EFL really needs to amend this rule because clearly it can be taken advantage of, even if I don't believe that is what has happened here.

Surely too late to change again now. Ridiculous we were able to cancel without confirmation but equally bad Jamaica can just name a squad whenever they want rather than by a deadline. We’ve had a let off here potentially.
We did have confirmation. Jamaica went through the process of calling him up, but then left him out without telling us, presumably due to his lack of recent match action.

Agree, and I worry this could come back to bite us on the bum, esp given that we've often not got into stride straightaway after int. breaks.

I suspect there was something quite formal from Jamaica about Leigh and that was presented to the EFL who accepted. Something seems possibly to have happened subsequently to change those minds. But, in fairness I'm glad (although will miss football Saturday) as we need our strongest team.

First bit is exactly what happened. Jamaica then decided they didn't want him after all.

Well that’s the end of it surely. The game has been moved, not cancelled. What’s the big deal? Lot of fuss about nothing. Barnsley trying to build up rage because we are not losing two of our important players?
I understand why it was moved but personally, I’d have been happy to play it given the form we are in.
The real issue is holding internationals at this time of year in the first place. It’s the domestic game that pays the bills and it’s about time these international games were shovelled into the close season where they belong. It was bad enough holding a World Cup finals in an oven half way through the season.

Ironic that Barnsley have a player confirmed in that squad.

Indeed, game postponed. He was called up but Jamaica decided they didn't want him. Got the impression the club weren't aware that he wasn't going to be named in the final party until I texted them to query it.

That's incredible really - I mean I know you have a worldbeating contact list & influence Phil but I thought the Club these days were 100% spot on & up to speed with this kind of stuff.
