You take a life, you’d better have a good reason to do so otherwise for me it’s jail, paid for by you or you relations, until you are carried out in a bag.

Good reasons might include self defence, police, military.

I don’t know why he was chasing that man and I’ve of course not seen the evidence. The BBC says he was another drug dealer. If so, the intended victim would be serving a very long sentence for that. I hate what drugs do and the gradual acceptance of them in this country, but these are separate discussions.

The POS in question used a firearm and killed. He knew what a gun was and what it could do. He chose to use it and is accountable. Life lost, lives changed for ever. If he can reverse that I’d consider parole in say 42 years time. If not, he stays inside until his last breath.

Your relations should pay for a crime you committed?!

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Liverpool's underworld turned him in almost immediately. There's also credible evidence of a price on his head, hence why he was surrounded by armed guards today perhaps.

I suspect he will be kept away from the general population and on suicide watch for a long time yet.

The refusal to leave his cell should carry some sort of sanction. I saw someone suggest the sentence doesn't start until you are given it by the judge in person. Sounds like a good idea on the face of it, but someone like him has nothing to lose anyway as it's unlikely he'll see out that term.

If there was this suggested price on his head, then why did the same underworld turn him in. And what credible evidence is there beyond the Sun making up stuff ?

You turn someone in, and what he would be facing would mean he would sing, like a good 'un.

Prisoners given a long sentence are usually 'sedated' for the first few months, and in his case treated for any drug addiction he might have.

if he lives to 76 the world he knew will have changed enormously. Those he thought were friends will melt away, and with such a high profile case he will want to be in solitary as far away as possible.

You assume that a) the timeline/ people who turned him in are the same as those who presumably want him dead b) why would he "sing" exactly? That more than likely, only ensures he dies inside much quicker and unexpectedly.

He's going to struggle as it is not be hurt, maimed or worse by the general population regardless.

He is no doubt at the bottom of a pyramid, with those above him having lots to lose now.

Might generate a sense of responsibility. Just an irrational/daft thought. I guess what I’m after is to make jail self funding. I resent paying for an animal like that.

When you go on holiday, you pay. Prison is voluntary so you pay.

Sorry, I’ve gone all medieval today.

“There’s a strong message, if those individuals who at the weekend are partying out in clubs or socialising in houses think they’re not doing any harm by having a line of cocaine or doing whatever they want to do … Everyone involved in the chain is responsible.

“That is the reality. If there wasn’t demand there wouldn’t be supply.”

Seems pretty clear to me - unless you've taken something else entirely from the quote?

No, that’s correct.

It was yiu who cae up wuth the 'underworld'. Suggesting it was some collective of naughtiness.

Beano type language that over excites its readers. That's all.

There s no collective action, just as there were no London gangs. They were just those available on a certain date.

He would sing to gain more privileges, and protection. I'm not sure how the general population would be able to get him.

It is whether what he knows will lead to any convictions. It was the cracking of encrypted phones that has lead to convictions rather than what Cashman can tell

You must be the only person in the UK who is paying.

So should prison be determined by what you can pay.

But it is voluntary. Rather like the National Trust. Prisons are kept full by having an abundance of volunteers

You should be on kGB news with that level of 'insight'

I’m saying what it could be not what it is.

No, it should not be determined by what you should pay but by the crime you commit. But by essentially volunteering to go by committing that crime, you should earn your keep.

This is not insight, just random thoughts for discussion.

You are of course entitled to offer an opinion as to which news channel I should be on. It’s not something I’d do.

I didn't imply that at all. As usual you seem to be trying to win arguments that don't exist on here at all.

Maybe I’m tarring all with the same brush but I’d say the majority of those who take cocaine are more likely to sway right politically.

If they didn’t take cocaine the business wouldn’t be there. If this results in people stepping away from it then all the better, and starving these evil gangs of income.

None of this will bring Olivia back, however. The poor family.

eh

Asking you to substantiate your statements, thats all.

"Liverpool's underworld turned him in almost immediately. There's also credible evidence of a price on his head, hence why he was surrounded by armed guards today perhaps. "

or explain

"He's going to struggle as it is not be hurt, maimed or worse by the general population regardless."

It is standard practice for cases like this, a gunman, to have armed police at the court. And I struggle to see, once in jail, how Cashman will be caused harm by the 'general population'.

Are citizens going to break into prisons to attack him ?

You may wish to see this as an argument. I see it as simply asking you to explain your bizarre claims.

Assume that to be the case then it shows a very limited knowledge of how prisons operate.
