Good run or not . We’ve thrown that away . 17:05 - Apr 10 with 4394 viewsArnieM

Oh well a golden opportunity spurned by us today in my view. We’ve literally thrown away 3 points this afternoon. We never got to grips with the conditions or the game . They seemed to deal with it far better than us all afternoon. And once again the unforced errors rears it’s ugly head
( defensive, and the usual culprits) once again.

I actually feel gutted at this because Cheltenham were bollox in my view, and didn’t have to work to get their goal. Barnsley are now right up our backsides and we’ve still to go to their place . Automatic promotion far from a certainty in my view.

If Cheltenham dealt with the conditions far better than us how was it that we created numerous excellent chances whilst they only scored because Walton had a brain fart? We were in total control for all of that second half bar the few seconds in which Walton came for a ball he had no business coming for.

Thought we were poor,
Missed broadhead clever footballer,
Walton wtf woolfy would have cleared it,
Could have been at the top,
With Barnsley winning and owls put ourselves right back under pressure,
Have to win the home games,
Still can't get in front of Plymouth,
Owls will be delighted been crap and still on top,
Not a day to draw oh well,
Keep on going,

How can you say usual culprits when we've gone the equivalent of 10 games without conceding a goal?

You're rewriting history here for the sake of a flounce though. They didn't look like they were handling it better at all - they spent the first half kicking it too long with the wind.

Agree automatic promotion far from a certainty - but it always has been.

I don’t think following a football team is good for you. You seem to take issue with absolutely everything. You do realise teams don’t win every game, right?

We’ve just taken 25 points from 27 whilst other sides are beginning to drop points.

If you think Cheltenham are rubbish I’d also suggest you know very little about league 1 football. You know we’ve not beaten them in 4 games and look at their home record. It’s not the worst point ever just disappointing the manner we conceded the goal. I’m disappointed but not gutted and happy with our Easter

Oh Arnie, you really are a negative Nellie!!

We "threw away" 2 points not 3.

"Usual culprits" - We had not conceded for 9 straight games, 22.5% of the season so far! There are no usual culprits because conceding goals is not usual for us.

Barnsley are not "up our backsides now", they're 4 points behind us having played the same number of games. If we match their results until we play them then they still cannot overtake us.

Yes, a frustrating result (especially with Plymouth losing at home for a change) and a disappointing way to squander our clean sheet record but it's certainly not as much of a disaster as you're peddling.

I do feel today smacks of our inconsistent run which will be the period which costs us if we don't go up - fail to take our
chances and concede due to an error.

100% and exactly what I said in the other thread, everything about this performance reeked of a return to the performances of "that spell" and we all know how that turned out, with games against Peterborough and Barnsley coming up, you just can't afford to throw away points like we did today, Cheltenham were appallingly bad.

If we don't get automatic it will very likely be because two other teams scored an unprecedented amount of points in the same season.

I don't think it smacks of that run at all - it was the first points dropped in 9 games, through an error primarily caused by conditions, away to a side with a poor pitch & very good recent home record (their last home defeat was to Barnsley on 18th Feb). I always had it down as a potential banana skin tbh.

‘They seemed to deal with it much better’?!

How do you quantify that? Was it our 65% possession or the 23 shots… or hitting the bar, or carving out 3 other really gilt edged chances

But really the point about your drivel is this

We’ve just had an amazing run, and today we still deserved to win BY A MILE

We threw it away because we had a moment of madness, that’s all. On a narrow pitch with a strong wind.

We’ve been very good. And we deserved to win today, despite not being at our best.

Back the team and don’t bring this negative sh!t to the board

TB

Let's be honest tho

Before the run. Was there any expectation of winning 8 games in a row..

I don't think there was 1 person who could hand on heart say they expected it.

So imo. Today's draw is just a draw. It's a point away at a ground that's not been to easy to get 3 points from. We almost got it for not a mistake.

A draw which let's be honest could have happened at any point in the last month and no one would have not expected a draw at some point.

Just move onto next week now.

In that scenario questionable why we wouldn't be one of the top two teams, even if we do pick up an unprecedented number of points, considering the amount of money spent and undoubted quality in the squad.
