Good run or not . We’ve thrown that away . 17:05 - Apr 10 with 4393 viewsArnieM

Oh well a golden opportunity spurned by us today in my view. We’ve literally thrown away 3 points this afternoon. We never got to grips with the conditions or the game . They seemed to deal with it far better than us all afternoon. And once again the unforced errors rears it’s ugly head
( defensive, and the usual culprits) once again.

I actually feel gutted at this because Cheltenham were bollox in my view, and didn’t have to work to get their goal. Barnsley are now right up our backsides and we’ve still to go to their place . Automatic promotion far from a certainty in my view.

Let's be honest tho

Before the run. Was there any expectation of winning 8 games in a row..

I don't think there was 1 person who could hand on heart say they expected it.

So imo. Today's draw is just a draw. It's a point away at a ground that's not been to easy to get 3 points from. We almost got it for not a mistake.

A draw which let's be honest could have happened at any point in the last month and no one would have not expected a draw at some point.

Just move onto next week now.

There's never been any knowledge of what would happen this season, as none of us can see into the future, we can only speculate on the future and comment on the past and present.

Each game is unique and you cannot judge a result on any prior, or predicted future performance, just what's presented on the day. Today, we were poor, against a very poor opposition and it cost us 2 points, which is extremely disappointing at this stage of the season when Wednesday and Plymouth have done their best to hand an automatic promotion spot to us, we seem too keen to hand it back for my liking.

Are you really blaming the defence as "usual suspects"?

Yeah that does seem to ignore the last 1000 or so minutes of football doesn't it

Interesting how your post which says basically the same as me gets an up vote snd I get downvotes. How’s that work then?

Because yours is a ridiculous post. Why not stay away from the forum until you've had a realistic time to reflect. In Isolation its not the best result, but Sheff Wed did draw there only a couple of weeks ago (or less). We've had a lot of games and just won 8 in a row. my god thats a ridiculous run and it was always going to end sometime. Just no need to be all 'its the end of the world" after 1 draw!

Relax for gods sake.

Disappointed to take a point but we move on - still in such a good position having clawed our way back in to the automatic mix.

A really difficult afternoon, a difficult place to go, I saw that when Sheff Wed went there, and the conditions were difficult.

A good double header for us at home now to continue our push.

If Harness or Burns took one of their 1st half chances and Walton didn't make an error that's a comfortable, dominant 2-0 win and you think we've played well.

Yep, and luckily with no power to do that otherwise it would have been a massive mistake.

All of your post is nonsense. But one thing I'd especially like to comment on - we didn't throw anything away. We tried our hardest, had some very decent chances, 23 shots to 6, and conceded (due to an error and the wind) what, 6 mins from the 90?

Get a grip fella.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Autos was never a certainty..For us, SW or Plymouth..And it still isnt....We are pretty much "as was"..

Did anyone seriously think we'd win all of our remaining games, and SW wouldnt win another game all season?

Let's get fully behind everyone and not let a draw away from home, turn into a crisis.
We gained a point on Plymouth today, which nobody saw coming. And SW were never losing at home to Accy..So it's a point gained, imo.

I call for a ban on people that appear to be obvious trolls or budgies. That’s not censorship, that’s exclusion of people that will be deliberately inflammatory.

I may have got TalkingBlue confused with someone else but having seen their other thread I’m not so sure. -28 votes and counting is fairly indicative of what people think of their view.

Fair play, I half expected you to post something along the lines of Arnie.

9 wins on the trot is rare, no matter the opposition.

It was always ‘when’ and not ‘if’

Take our tonic today and go again next week. 1 point closer to Plymouth too….what a run we’ve had to get back in this position and still all to play for.

Is there any evidence of that? There's quite a few posts even in their first page that look positive rather than negative.

-28 is evidence of an unpopular opinion but doesn't mean it's not one they're entitled to. You disagree, and therefore jump to banning the 'specimen'.

I didn’t realise automatics were a certainty up to this point?

Sometimes we won’t win a game. Sometimes the opponent makes it difficult to do this.

Sport eh?

2 points… calm down dear..

But if this scenario had played out on the last day of the season would it have just been “two points?”

Errrr…. no. It’s never just two points, it’s the difference between autos and the play-offs.

Good run or not . We’ve thrown that away . on 17:21 - Apr 10 by marvellous

Oh Arnie, you really are a negative Nellie!!

We "threw away" 2 points not 3.

"Usual culprits" - We had not conceded for 9 straight games, 22.5% of the season so far! There are no usual culprits because conceding goals is not usual for us.

Barnsley are not "up our backsides now", they're 4 points behind us having played the same number of games. If we match their results until we play them then they still cannot overtake us.

Yes, a frustrating result (especially with Plymouth losing at home for a change) and a disappointing way to squander our clean sheet record but it's certainly not as much of a disaster as you're peddling.

Lol, thanks for reply8mg.

Look , we threw away 2 points. I don’t think I said we threw away 3.

By my comment “ the usual culprits”, I’m meaning when we were gifting goals . We’ve had an 8 game run out of 40 , where we have been brilliant defensively. But when we were gifting goals, it was usually down to one or two individuals on a seemingly regular basis, who always had the potential to make that one mistake in the game that resulted in a soft goal. Recently that hasn’t been the case. But today we gifted a soft goal in my view, and it was a total cock up. Yes these th8ngs happen, but this is the last thing we needed to do today, when we could have really turned the screw of pressure in Sheffield and Plymouth. A big missed opportunity.

I’d still says Barnsle6 are up our backsides, given the level of opponents we each have to play, and apart from a small blip by them , they’d been scoring goals for fun. Can we continue to do that over our next two home games against tougher opponents than they’ll face? i hope so.

Whether it’s a disaster or not I don’t know, but it sure as hell FEELS like a defeat today and not a point won.

Onwards and hopefully upwards eh 👍

So what you're saying, is that if we score 2 more goals and don't concede, then we win the game and it's a good result, thanks for clearing all this up.

A couple of individual errors don't define how you played for 90 minutes. If you think they do then you are a simpleton. But then we knew that.
