A few managers seem to be failing up now, interim managers seem to have become the new trend?

Bit too quick to be a 'panic' for me, seems to be pretty much in the first few they sounded out. I think that after Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha died in the helicopter crash, and especially post Covid, the money been put in has been dwindling. Pretty much what all the Leicester fans feared. The squad needed rebuilding and the funds don't seem to have been there.

It’s a really lazy appointment. Agreed - they panicked alright. I’m a bit puzzled as to why you’d fire somebody so late in the season. What is the new dude actually going to do other than look concerned? Poke them with an electric cattle prod? If it was that simple the sacked bloke would already have done it, surely. Leicester’s problem is that its best players are over the hill or not interested, from what little I’ve seen of them and what my brother in law tells me. They’ve been poor all season. That’s not going to change. Wheeling in a new bod when you have nothing to play for, are going to make a change and give him an end of season to learn about what he has and wants is fully understandable. This isn’t it, any more than it is at ‘Frank Lampard’s Chelsea’, Blackpool or even QPR.

Hoping for a new manager bounce effect is the only reason for sacking Johnson now.

Well, of the recent ones Warnock managed it I suppose. Mick did it here after sadsack Jewell’s miserable efforts half way through the season. But as a general rule I do wonder how much of this ‘new manager bounce’ thing is a myth? Most of the time it seems to be a new manager splat, especially so late in the season.

Won't they be hit with a massive fine if/when they return to the EFL? No doubt it will be negotiated to a 'few million', but they will probably need to sell a player or two to fund it.

Good managers don't like moving mid season as you have little chance to shape the squad to your liking. Then, your reputation will suffer. Leicester fans I know hoped they would get Potter, but this does smack of a panic by owners who aren't as rich as they were.

There used to be a bank of managers like Warnock, Allardyce and Mick that these clubs would appoint to keep them up. This and the Lampard appointments suggest there is a lack of that type around. Both of them must be astounded to be given the chance to mend their reputations. I wouldn't hold my breath for them improving, though. Lampard seemed to be throwing the players under the bus straight after his first match!
