"Detailed, forensic and damning" on 14:34 - Jun 15 with 2278 views | Churchman | I’ve read the report in the link below: https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm5803/cmselect/cmprivi/564/summary.html It’s not too long and says it all really. What Johnson did and what Johnson is. Tbh, I’m still dumbfounded by him and his sycophants. How could they do what they did? This government should resign right now. They were elected in 2019. The current weedy bunch have no mandate whatsoever. Johnson? He is a liar and a fraud and should be facing charges of some description.

Cheers, had only had a quick look on Twitter & not been able to find the report itself. What infuriated me was some tory brown-nose on the R4 midday news bulletin (might have been Paul Bristow MP?) still trying to defend Johnson, saying the report was unfair, unjustified, ott etc

Many Germans were defending Hitler after he and Germany was destroyed. I guess some people only see what they want to see - primarily what benefits them.

The report summary is really short and very clear. None of the right wing brigade are disputing its findings, but are claiming conspiracy and foul - with as you say hypocrisy and irony. What Blair did is irrelevant. What others did was irrelevant. The report is about Johnson and misleading Parliament. Nothing else. What part of this are they not getting? I suppose they think that if they muddle, scream foul, obscure and raise irrelevancies, the thicko plebs will be mugged off and somehow vote for these wasters in 18 months time. That’s the level of contempt they have. [Post edited 15 Jun 2023 19:39]

Them calling him a sh1t bag is likely as far reaching as this gets, he’ll still be earning £100k a time doing after dinner speeches for the next 30 years, frightening.

The problem is that these people are coninuing the work of Johnson and friends in normalising that undermining of democratic processes , rule of law and integrity of public office.
"Detailed, forensic and damning" on 18:00 - Jun 15 with 1711 views | eireblue | What is also slightly annoying, and I think all the fluff being thrown about, is also helping to deflect from one of the reasons many people resigned from Johnson’s cabinet. He lied about Pincher, and had minister go out and lie for him. Hopefully that will not remain forgotten.

James Duddridge MP I think he could be onto something there - if it were a paid for tour, it might even help with the national debt.

They're threatening deselection for Tory MPs who vote to accept the reports recommendations. If this was Labour the Mail would be in even more of a frenzy. What's even more depressing is all the Borars licking gobshoites on GB News and Talk TV who haven't got a clue about how parliament works.

The report in point two says ‘This inquiry goes to the very heart of our democracy. Misleading the House is not a technical issue, but a matter of great importance. Our democracy is based on people electing Members of Parliament not just to enable a government to be formed and supported but to scrutinise legislation and hold the Executive to account for its actions. Our democracy depends on MPs being able to trust that what Ministers tell them in the House of Commons is the truth. If Ministers cannot be trusted to tell the truth, the House cannot do its job and the confidence of the public in our democracy is undermined. When a Minister makes an honest mistake and then corrects it, that is democracy working as it should.’ Johnson was found guilty. End of. Dorries, JRM and the rest of the 12 who have challenged this are basically saying it was a stitch up. It was not independent. That Harman and the Committee were out to get Johnson. They need to provide hard evidence of their accusations as they are challenging the reputation of the Committee members and Parliament itself. If they cannot provide substantive evidence, they should be hauled before a Parliamentary Standards Committee themselves and if found guilty, thrown out.. This is about democracy. By nature cross government committees / Select Committees are politically independent. If you have seen them and didn’t know the Chairperson, you’d never know what their political persuasion was. It’s how it’s always worked. These oddments want to change all that. Lastly, where is Sunak? Time to crawl out from under your rock. Members of your party are challenging the very essence of Parliamentary democracy. Show some backbone - just once. Edit: apols for the rant. [Post edited 15 Jun 2023 19:56]

Well said. Some of the rubbish that's been spouted today by Johnson's supporters is truly Trumpian.

Pincher, Paterson, Partygate PLUS 4. Proroguing parliament illegally 5. Passing on public money for sex, er I mean ‘IT lessons’ 6. Promising 40 imaginary new hospitals 7. Porky pie telling to the Queen 8. Propaganda promotion for Brexit 9. Piss-taking performance with a bus (see above) 10. Prompting concerns about Carrie’s safety 11. Papering over the cracks (literally) in his use of donor funding for redecorating 12. Profiteering by party donors and friends during a pandemic 13. Peerages for stooges 14. Pretending Barnard Castle is key to eye sight checks 15. Putting the son of a KGB agent in the Lords 16. Partying away at said KGB agent’s property in Italy after slipping his security detail 17. Personally profiting from free holidays from donors that weren’t declared 18. Pissing off the Parliamentary Standards Committee on multiple occasions (e.g. holidays, see above) A pillock personified who perverted parliament and was patently unsuited to a position demanding perfect propriety.

Sorry, I’ll keep quiet from now on Edit. Actually, he seems to have gone full conspiracy rather than just deny. It was all a remoaner, Labour-led stitch up to thwart his wonderful Brexit (let’s face it, it’s all he’s got). [Post edited 15 Jun 2023 20:52]
