So. Big question then. Morsy or Luongo...... (n/t) on 21:17 - Jun 26 with 2045 views | RobTheMonk | That you're asking the question is good for the club. We've got three very good midfielders in place. One of Evans, Ball or Camara are surely off now?
So. Big question then. Morsy or Luongo...... (n/t) on 21:40 - Jun 26 with 1970 views | JackNorthStand | I have a theory that we will play 3 in the middle next season. Given that we also have Lee Evans, Camara and Dom Ball ( And Humphreys though I know he will likely go out on loan ).

I actually think McKenna really rates Evans and rightly so. If Evans goes it will be a decision based on his fitness stats/data over a few seasons. He's more than capable in the champ. Dominic Ball is a completely different player to Taylor. ball surely stays as cover and to sure things up in tight games. Can also play CB (as cover) Camara - who knows. Would be bizarre to pay a decent fee and right him off so soon. Humphreys will surely go out on loan. Gives the opportunity for him to go and play a full season in league one. I'd actually send him off to Peterborough now. Only negative is he didn't count in squad list so lose and extra free body. Luongo - CM Morsy - CM Ball CM/CB Evans - CM Camara - CM/AM Taylor CM/AM Out Humphreys -Loan Harper El Miz

Luongo's 180 champ games to Morsy's 150 says it's not so clear-cut. Both were let go by a Boro side who wanted better. I love how dominant Morsy has been in L1 and also, the incisive forward-looking play that Massimo added to the team. His 1 year contract is more likely a reflection on his injury record than his ability. But today's purchase seems to underline the now gloriously upward-looking stance of the club we support. Neither of them may be an automatic pick by the season's end, but meanwhile, good luck to both - they deserve it after what they have brought to us.

So. Big question then. Morsy or Luongo...... (n/t) on 11:33 - Jun 27 with 1582 views | CityBlue | In order of hierarchy/merit: Morsy - Skipper Evans - Technically gifted Luongo - Only one year contract Taylor - age on his side - will move up to number 2 in pecking order in 24/25 Ball - a rotation player for certain occasions. Camara - Loan/sell Humphreys - Loan to Derby County or similar level of team, moves up pecking order in 24/25 If we get promoted again then we see a whole new approach. I think Camara is being written off too quickly by some. With a full pre-season I am sure McKenna will have a plan. I think he has the potential to end up as a real surprise package. I will caveat this by saying we just don't know how his recovery has truly gone.

there's no way we spend £1m plus on a player just for him to warm the bench...I think Morsy and Taylor will start with Luongo as sub. Evans will be moved on if we can find a club for him imo. Too many serious injuries and not dynamic/mobile enough to screen our defence like Morsy and Luongo did last season - despite his undoubted passing ability.

There's absolutely no way Taylor isn't in front of Evans and probably Luongo. [Post edited 27 Jun 2023 11:44]

So. Big question then. Morsy or Luongo...... (n/t) on 11:45 - Jun 27 with 1528 views | the_toff | I don't think it's much of a question. Morsy is our captain and arguably our POTS last year. Taylor has been chased for a year and come in for a sizeable fee. They're going to be the preferred partnership, with Luongo offering a support role I think. He's a good head to bring on in games, with plenty of experience at Championship level.

So after giving an opinion on the question on another thread you decide to start your own thread on the same subject? Deeply strange behaviour, especially given many replying in this thread won't have seen the other thread and thus won't have a clue what your opinion is. I don't have a clue what your opinion is and I'm not going to go hunting for it. SB

No. I hadn't seen the other thread when I posted this one. I gave an uppy to chelts for sharing the thread also ready made and subsequently posted within that thread in fairness to the OP of that thread who had already taken the time to start a thread on the forum. I only responded to J2 on this thread as intrigued by his reply. You never go hunting, you can just filter your spreadsheet. [Post edited 27 Jun 2023 12:56]

That last line makes no sense. How would anything be in a spreadsheet if I've not seen it? It's quite amusing that being able to remember things is somehow seen as a negative, I guess those are the times we are living in though. SB

Because that is not how football works. It's very much a squad game with the number of games and 5 subs. Do you think McKenna knows who will start against Sunderland? He likely has a long term idea but let's say it's Morsy +1. Do you think he knows the +1? It's a gruelling season with injuries and suspensions thrown in. We need strength in depth.
