Absolute shambles if true, yes on the pitch we are brilliant rn but one or two injuries and we are in the mud, very poor window

Exactly! Some on here are so negative. Why not let management decide whether it's a bullet dodged. Makes me cringe the number of supporters think they know better

Arnie, struggling with your logic. You’ve been on and on and on about Woolfie and Burgess not being up to the required standard for months now and in my opinion you’ve been overly critical but here we are potentially signing a centre back with Premier League pedigree and you’re saying bullet dodged. Maybe, just maybe you’re a bit hard to please?

Basically any player we haven't signed for whatever reason is a bullet dodged as they obviously don't want to be here enough - well that's the logic anyway

I know you’re not supporting the view so not arguing with you.

The obvious counter argument in this specific case is that the logic is nonsense because we may very well sign the guy. So I guess if that happens we’ve just taken a bullet!

The bullet hasn’t been fired at this stage. The club is looking at all the options and is in a better position than anyone to assess which ammunition is required for this situation.

The problem with that attitude it assumes players aren't professionals, that everyone who is here does so because they 100% want to be here and that anyone who isn't here isn't because they 100% don't - no room for nuance and forgets our captain has admitted he didn't want to sign here when he did do

Quite, it’s one of the problems with that view. I’ve little doubt that when Axel T was marking M’Bappe and keeping him in his pocket that it never once crossed his mind that in August 2023 he’d be unemployed and considering a move to Ipswich Town. If he’d never had the injury problems he’s had in then us signing him would never have been a possibility. If he signs I’d prefer to take a view over time but I’ll be starting off from the perspective that I trust the management team to make a good decision.

That aged well then ...

Yippee on several counts - the signing, at last I get to write that legend phrase, and seeing you with metaphorical egg splats all over your face.

Very well played.

What do I think? I’d rather we’d bought on somebody at his level with a better injury track record. But then there’s many unrealistic things I’d like.

The reality is that he is a very good player for this level. If he can stay fit he’s going to be a real asset. If he has problems, nothing has been lost. McKenna knows him and will know what influence he can bring to the table, Keogh style, aside from his ability to play.

For me CH was the big gap in our transfer window. The lads have done brilliantly and I believe will continue to do so, but the addition of Axel on a free certainly doesn’t weaken us. He will cost us salary of course and it may turn out a poor gamble but there really is little downside beyond that.

I agree.

Downside ÂŁ500k?

Upside > ÂŁ5million player (and that's being conservative)

So if there's a greater than 10/1 chance we get Axel fit and playing regularly then it's a risk worth taking.

Having yesterday bemoaned the fact that we weren't signing Tuanzebe, this lad has got straight in the comments section to bemoan it as a high risk signing.

Obvious budgie is obvious.

Lesson of the week: don’t believe what you see on social media. I never look at Twitter anymore and it’s fantastic. It takes a real weight of you and frees up your mind for other things when you’re not worrying about misinformation and other people’s outrage all the time. Strongly recommended- boot Twitbook into touch and go for a walk instead.

I've always managed it by just being very selective in who and what I read.

X under Musk is a pale shadow of the old Twitter, so I'm on there v. little these days anyway.
