You're not, if the ad was someone shouting "I want my baby back" I got the same one on about the 10th after you posted about it. Regarding, keeping your head down I would suggest not doing so....keep it held high, you might even be pleasantly surprised.

He did nothing different to any previous USA president. 100%. They are too embodied in the whole thing, they also have 100’s of military basis across the Middle East and the deal is what the deal is. USA have the bases in a deal that they control the Israel situation and at the same time let their allies do what they want - ie SA knocking the feck out of Yemen. USA has, and always has had many very important Jewish people within big.gov, FBI, CIA and also the real important organisations that neither you or I know about.

It's good to see this thread still going strong with nobody being accused of Islamophobia, having accusations of trolling or foul mouthed tirades directed at them.
Sadly the same can not be said of threads highlighting the many atrocities against Gazan civilians and associated resignations from the UN and American government. The irony that unwarranted accusations of antisemitism have been used to close down awareness and criticism of the Israeli State after everything you know who claimed during the Corbyn debacle has not been lost on me. Perhaps GB, the bastion of balance, can start a parallel thread for the board and then resist getting shouty at himself?

Another thread which basically ended up becoming a repeat of the previous one. A bit more respect to other posters who hold different views and fewer accusations and less baiting of other users. Not really got time to deal with multiple abuse reports first thing in the morning.

Further to that, I take Bloots's point about returning users out to cause trouble. There have been a few over the last little while asking to come back and when refused seem to have set up accounts which have done little other than to cause trouble. I've banned the ones I've noticed or been pointed to.

Is that English irony?

There has been countless threads criticising the Israeli state - several a day with balanced and friendly debate. The only ones that have been pulled as far as I can see are yours.. perhaps some self awareness is needed and ask yourself why that is…

GB edited his OP as set out below (it was already that, despite some unnecessary diversions given the subject matter) but there is nothing to stop someone else starting another thread concerning, say, the plight of ordinary Palestinians. I have started the odd one myself because I am concerned about suffering, discrimination or injustice whether Israeli/Jewish or Palestinian/Muslim. But, given all the bickering, my inclination now is to only comment on other people's threads on this whole matter, if I feel it necessary.

No problem with any of that although you should start threads on maters that concern you. What I am p1ssed about though is that GB in response to the non point that Positiviy has just made again can say "It's because it doesn't involve Jews" and in the process get a thread removed.
Just highlighting his rank hypocrisy and will leave I there.

Unfortunately, you have unintentionally fallen into the trap of repeating the “Duel Loyalty” trope, as defined in the IHRA definition of antisemitism: “of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations.”

As I said, I think this is totally unintentional on your part and you have never shown any animosity towards Jewish people.

Duel loyalty has been used over the centuries by a lot of evil people to murder a lot of Jews. Antisemites allege that the true allegiance of Jews is to their fellow Jews and that therefore they are inherently disloyal citizens and cannot be trusted.

We’ve seen a lot of contemporary antisemites use this trope over the past few years. That the Board of Deputies of British Jews can’t be trusted because they are loyal to the interest of Israel. That British Rabbis complaining about antisemitism are obviously being directed to do so by the Israeli embassy. That British Jewish Parliamentarians are Zionist apartheid apologists.

Obviously, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a strong emotional attachment to Israel from Diaspora Jews or to their fellow Jews. Two millennia of world-wide persecution has created that bond. And that’s why there has been such an outpouring of grief from world-wide Jewry over the massacres on 7th October.

And of course, just as we have had a very small number of individual British Muslims show allegiance to IS and British members of Parliament who have spied for a foreign power, there will be British and American Jews who as individuals will put the interests of Israel above all else. But a blanket “Jews in positions of power will promote the interests of Israel” is where the trope comes in.

I know that wasn’t the exact quote but that’s what I took form your post.

I hope you don’t mind me pointing this out. As I stated from the start, I think this was completely unintentional and that’s why I wanted to give you a rather wordy explanation about the “Duel Loyalty” trope and how it’s been used to scapegoat, harass, vilify and murder Jews for over two millennia.

I think in some instances (though not all) this is an unfair characterisation of criticism aimed at the Board of Deputies or organisations such the Jewish Labour Movement. For example, I would say that as both are systemically pro Zionist, they are not representative of those Jews who are non / anti Zionist. It's not that I think they are more loyal to Israel, just that they are not representative of all British Jews, or Jewish members of the Labour Party in the case of JLM, and should not act or be treated as such.

Being Pro Zionist, the belief in a Jewish state in the ancestral homeland of Israel, does not make somebody an apologist for the IsraelI government or apartheid. The BOD is often highly critical of the Israeli state.

I believe in Israel's right to exist. I don't support Netanyahu or his coalition of ultra religious right wing zealots and terrorist supporters.

9 in 10 British Jews support the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state.

As for the BOD not being representativ eof British Jewry? The Board of Deputies is the only democratically elected, cross-communal, representative body in the Jewish community. It comprises over 300 deputies directly elected by the synagogues and communal organisations they represent, from congregations to youth movements, and social welfare charities to regional councils.

It's quite sinister how certain sections of the political spectrum have tried to hijack the word zionism and turn it into something that it isn't.

But we are going off piste. I was simply trying to address Lucan's post.

Can you please stop smearing people like this? Totally unacceptable to be conflating what Lucan said which is antisemitic re: shadowy organisations and dual loyalty in and around government with what I’ve said about overtly political and pro-Israeli organisations trying to dictate from the sidelines.

If Lucan had talked about the actual impact of similar organisations in the US like AIPAC and their stranglehold on congress re: Israel then that would be comparable. But not antisemitic as it’s fair enough to criticise AIPAC for their lobbying to dictate Middle East policy in Israel’s favour.

Indeed. But far easier — and certainly less awkward than dealing with the facts — to call criticism of them antisemitic and invalidate it immediately.

Even GB admits there is a pro-Israel lobby — and no reason there shouldn’t be. But it’s valid to point out how it is a very strong and radical lobby that has too large a hold on political decision-making while ensuring that pro-Palestinian voices have been mostly sidelined.

It’s the sidelining of those voices over the past couple of decades (and a lot of that isn’t the lobbying organisations but from factional and party political actors in the overall fight against the Left) but specifically since Gaza in 2014 that have seen us give cover for increasing occupation and oppression and now give cover for war crimes in the latest escalation.

It's a nicely written and well expressed piece. I am fairly certain, or would at least like to think, that if I worked at your school and knew your were Jewish I would have asked how you are. I hope that, like us all, you can hang on to your humanity when all around us is becoming increasingly inhuman.
