Getting to the Prem is worth way more than anything we can resell him for. He'd thrive here and Blackburn are just trying to strong arm us. Can see this getting done easier than some of the other targets.

£2m wouldn;t be out of sorts for a player of his calibre. Seems you're still stuck on FM15 prices.

Proven Championship ability, I'd rather spend up to £2m on him than £3m+ on Colby Bishop.

Agreed - but I think that's too much money on both of them. Especially someone with Gallagher's injury record this year.

I'd be surprised if the supposed £1.5m being rejected is correct to be fair - maybe it could reach that with promotion bonuses, appearances etc but doubt it's that sort of cost up front.

Blackburn don't seem to hold much leverage - he has 6 months left with an option that they don't want to trigger because he's on decent money (apparently). So he's going to walk away for nothing in the summer.

We’re not in much of a position to negotiate are we. Desperate for a striker and will need to pay over the odds. Doing so is a gamble that we need to take, whether for him, or somebody else.

I have heard that the fee is agreed ,But it's the wages that are a problem at the moment.

Came on at 60 minutes in their match yesterday. That was his first playing time since the injury but overall he's had very few injuries in his career.

Nope, that's not correct but was doing the rounds a few days ago. He is on more than anyone we have due to being a Championship player though so it's going to be a new hurdle we have to negotiate for any signing.

Firstly a mill for a Championship forward in 2024 is pittance. Look what our rivals have spent! I swear some are stuck in the 90s with their ideas on fees.

Secondly Marcus Stewart was hardly a spring chicken when we signed him was he? We paid top money for him then.

It's Jan and sellers market. We will have to overpay to get someone of the required level unfortunately.

I think we're already having to be flexible for what is available. Absolutely we would prefer someone 22-25. But they just aren't available in our budget because people don't want to sell.

Two problems

1) It's the January window, prices always higher in the Jan window

2) Nearly every team in the Championship is after a striker, competition increases prices

Add 1) and 2) together and you need to spend more than £1m for an experienced striker.

The cheap option is wait and see if Scarlett can come back onloan from Spurs

Yep although Scarlett isn't really the type of 9 we need. Sarmiento feels and upgrade on the role he was playing.

Scarlett isn't the answer for us now at this stage of the season,
Not to say he won't be a good player we just need an experienced head now,

With the financial restrictions placed on the owners by the Indian govt if they want to buy any players they'll have to generate the funds from player sales. Not sure if that helps us or hinders us but probably means the deal will happen.

3 - everyone knows we desperately need a striker and also we are risking £150m promotion bonus if we fail to get one as we won’t go up.

We may be in a bit of an auction for him with Sunderland, which could push the price up a bit.
