Good article above that gives us a sense of what business we could expect, and also the level of cover in each position. £15m players.

Kompany went young, and with quite some volume at 15 signings (two being loan players in the Championship campaign signed permanently), with £90m in fees.

It obviously wasn’t successful- Too much change?

Too much of an experimental model?:
“The transfer model of owners ALK Capital involves recruiting players from across Europe and taking calculated gambles on young high-potential players. The club wants to be viewed as the hotbed for developing young talent, increasing their value and enabling them to take the next step up the ladder, while helping Burnley on the pitch.”

Changed your view yet?

I always thought it slightly odd that some fans thought we’d be very tentative in terms of transfer fees. An element of Stockholm syndrome from the years under Evans perhaps.

These investors are serious people, with serious amounts of capital behind them. Even with some limitations through FFP there was no way they were ever going to ‘do a Luton’.

Retrospectively the investment in League One was huge (albeit smaller in relative terms). We went full Man City and spent more than the rest of the league combined on fees (and a L1 record total spend I believe). We also paid out 20m in wages which is huge at this level. We would have seen more spent in the Championship I believe, but due to having the best coach in the country ended up a year or two ahead of schedule!

I can see us spending 20/25m overall all year maybe ?

We aren’t spending 90m. No chance

You think McKenna signed a contract with a war chest of £25m

Luton however went into looking to stay up
I don't think that's all Ashton wants to do.

I would hope not, thats not a good target to aim to 'just stay up'.

If we aim for 10th place and we fall short we might get 12th or 14th

Poll: If we sing for 90 mins for all remaining games, how many points is it worth?

Just bumping this thread. Smithy - you have to acknowledge that we were NEVER going to spend Luton levels of money.

From what little I saw of Burnley last season the main issue was the wide open way they played rather than the container load of players.

Just saying

Which screwed them over but probably worked well as a job application for Kompany.

I would add to this in relation to the OP that Burnley's best player when they came up was Nathan Tella and they did not sign him. We have signed Hutchinson and plenty of others of better quality than him.

There is a lot of difference between what Burnley had available to them and what we now have in the building.
