Not sure why it is reported as a U-turn. Where has it been released from any reputable source that he had agreed to join Brighton? He was entitled to hear what they had to offer but I would be very surprised if he would have swapped the project he is in the middle of here to take over the one there.

Then late in the evening McKenna contacted Crystal Palace to say that he was doing a u-turn because he believed that ‘the project wasn’t complete’ at Ipswich. But for 12 hours he was genuinely a gonner. That’s how close it got. | |

Yep that was exactly the time. Think from memory I stayed off here for a few days after that because I didn’t want to let anything slip. Because obviously once he decided to stay, I didn’t want to seem like I was stirring anything up when we were in a promotion push.
Quite literally everything was completed other than the compensation from palace to us. His wages, his staff going with him etc was all done and then McKenna pulled the plug.
The Brighton stuff never got as close as that though but Brighton did expect to have him through the door by the end of the week | |
