England Left Back options 19:47 - Jun 6 with 5382 views | ChrisAllen7 | Maybe it's just me, but looking at that squad, Leif Davis in my opinion is our country's best left back. Obviously no premiership appearances but would you take any of those players over Leif at Ipswich??
England Left Back options on 19:50 - Jun 6 with 4859 views | Marshalls_Mullet | Leif Davis would be a terrible call. I love him, but he has some work to do defensively before he can be considered for international duty.

England Left Back options on 19:55 - Jun 6 with 4803 views | DublinBlue84 | Leif Davis is excellent going forward. Defensively he got caught out a number of occasions last year and if he plays the same role next year in the Premiership I'm a little worried he might be exposed.

England Left Back options on 20:05 - Jun 6 with 4719 views | _clive_baker_ | Never going to happen until he’s proven himself in the premier league. He’s got a chance now though, Trippier is getting on and out of position there, Burn isn’t getting any younger, Chilwell has been guff for England and not played a huge amount of club football in recent seasons due to injury, and Gomez is primarily as a centre half. Shaw is probably the 1st choice if everyone’s fit and if he’s playing regularly for United, but if Leif has a season even half as good as the last 2 then the England manager will have to look at the likes of him and Mitchell.

Davis is very solid in the tackle and wins most of them however he is asked to play as basically a left winger at times and thus he is sometimes out of position. I don't think you can use that to say his gets caught out, it's how he's told to play and being out of position sometimes is acceptable to KM. I think if he was told to play less attackingly or as a more standard LB he would be in the right position most of the time and would defend fine. Context is important. There isn't a LB in the world who could play as advanced as Davis does and still be in the correct defensive position every time. He has made some mistakes on headers but then other LB's also do that. SB

Harsh, but fair. Very thick blue goggles to think Leif is the best left back in England. But it’s irrelevant what I think, as he’s got next season to prove it.

Honestly I'm not jumping on the he's an Ipswich player he should be playing for England. I'm just stating with what we have currently available he surely is one of the top left backs, especially if Southgate wants to play on the front foot. Shaw and Chilwell are not fit and haven't kicked a ball in ages. Tripper obvious choice but he doesn't offer nowhere near as much attacking threat as what Leif would naturally on the left. Defensively yes he's not as strong but he would certainly add a more natural balance. 20 assists this season (yes in the championship) but having world class players around him I'm sure he would provide. Again I get he's played in the championship, Southgate has just come out and stated he left out Grealish and co because they haven't had as good a season as some others who have no England experience. Feel it would of been nice to experience at least a friendly call up.

Tyrick Mitchell ? Rico Henry? Levi Colwill? Dan Burn?

It was noticeable last season that the opposition were targeting our right back position far more than the left. The Davis can't defend is repeated often enough on here to be on a par with Woolfenden lacks concentration and is too laid back. We'll definitely find out this season but I reckon they'll both be fine. Clearly too early for an England call up but think it's unfair to imply he has defensive issues from his role at Town up to now.

Exactly this, Shaw is top quality but injury prone, only time will tell how fit he is. Davis is unproven against top level wingers, hopefully he prove this early on next season and then will be in England squads

Sometime emoji’s are just the right type of response. Agree with all on here, defensively he needs a couple of solid seasons in the PL.

You can add Lewis Hall to that list who was excellent for Newcastle towards the end of the season. No way is Leif ahead of any of these guys. Classic case of blue tinted specs going on with the OP.

Jumping off a cliff, running in front of a moving bus or punching ya mum in the face is a 'terrible idea'. Selecting a young, athletic, quality left back who was involved 20 odd goals in the most competitive league in the world is far from a terrible idea.

Thought he got better as the season wore on and was absolutely tireless against Coventry. He's not international class yet though.
England Left Back options on 10:14 - Jun 7 with 3416 views | ArnoldMoorhen | If he has two excellent Premier League seasons under his belt then he will be a very strong contender for the next World Cup squad. It's possible, if he starts this season strongly, that the new England manager might take a look at him in the Autumn friendlies.
