Rushworth 09:23 - Jun 9 with 6159 viewstractorboy1978

Heard that from a few different places/sources now so seems he is actually someone we want. Brighton paid £20m for 21 year old, Dutch international Verbruggen last summer, so you'd have to think Rushworth is going to be available this summer. Premier League football is his next step and Brighton could well think his value is maximised at the moment after a great loan spell last season.

What sort of fee do we think he will command?

Somewhere between £5-£10m I reckon.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Think I would rather Walton with Slicker as cover IF Hladky does go. I know Walton isn't as good with his feet, but I prefer a taller keeper. He has the experience and the contract already.

Wondering if Hladky is off or Walton, or possibly both ? Rushworth does sound very good.

In the other Hdlacky thread it was suggested we would not pay up to 20m for the Liverpool goalie, based on the Dutch Brighton keeper signing that is what it will take to get young players with PL, European and International experience in the building,

Sign Rushworth with Slicker as number 2 and start again the GK department.

Going to be an interesting summer!

Slicker has played a total of 877 minutes of men's football in the EFL Tropy and EFL Cup. I'd be really surprised if we went into a Premier League season one injury away from him starting matches.

Slicker needs to go somewhere on loan as the number 1 for a season.

We are a premier league team incase you missed a bit with a premier league set up and one of the best young managers in world football, why would we not be going for a player like this?

Either way Walton and Hdlacky are not starting PL players and if we want to compete in the league will need a new #1.

He would be hugely expensive, and I would be very surprised if he doesn’t have better offers if Liverpool are letting him go.

Rushworth had a very good season for Swansea and they wanted him back, however realise that he is prem bound but think he has potential to play internationally. Sounds like a good link

I know next to nothing about him.

Is he decent with his feet? That's surely a high priority given how we tend to play.

Brighton have managed his loans really well. One year at Worthing, then after a year's gap season-long loans to Walsall L2, Lincoln L1, Swansea Championship, and he's played 40+ games at all of them. He's only about 6 months older than Slicker.

To be fair, Hladky didn't give us a whole lot to be confident about at the start. However, time with McKenna clearly worked well and unlocked a lot of hidden potential in him.

Exactly - I can’t see KMC upgrading him after the season he has just had, that wouldn’t be good for team spirit, unless of course Hladky wants away. I would think Walton, who will be on a decent whack I would imagine, will move on and Hladky and new keeper duke it out for the number 1 slot.

He is nowhere near Vaz's level with his feet.

Watch the home game v Swansea and the crowd is giving him the bird because of it (he almost miscontrolled one into his net)

My concern is we spend 5m-8m on a goalkeeper who is no better and no more experienced in the PL than what we already have.

Against the fact he had a bit of a mare at Portman Road, Swans fans voted him player of the season so maybe was a one off.

No, it’s by far the weakest part of his game. Not just the technical side of being able to pick a pass. He panics when he’s closed down and then makes poor choices. I don’t understand why we’re after him unless KM is confident they can mould him into a footballing keeper some how.

He is a very good shot stopper though and is young with lots of time to improve. And maybe we’re going to change the way we play a bit?

(Just to add - the other side of the equation is that he was playing behind a poor defence last season, so that wouldn’t have given in confidence playing out. Maybe he’s a lot better than I’ve seen and with cooler defenders around him he’d be fine. I certainly trust KM to know what he wants).

You’re spot on - not a one off at all. Yet a very good shot stopper and one of the more promising keepers in England. He’ll just need to train with the outfield players for a bit

I’m not against him even though he’s an awful fit on his past performances. Kieran could turn water into wine. He’ll be like a cross between Peter Shilton and Pirlo within 3 months.

They've bid 15 burnley want 20 .He's 21 and would think he's a better prospect than this Brighton bloke for same money

good goalkeepers from England are like gold dust, very difficult to find that are actually really good. clearly quite a few people out there rate him and believe he has the skills to go far (McK clearly does too) so if we can develop him, his age helps - he could end up being quite a sale in the future, which will be one of the many reasons why they would make a move for him. lets face it, that's now going to be the main goal - recruit young, hungry with bags of potential to improve and sell off in years to come for large profits. essentially following that Brighton model which has served them very well, we will never have best of both worlds unfortunatley.
