Only 1 poll but we could be seeing a shift on the right of UK politics....

Nobody but a few nutjobs votes for them though.

If you think there's only a nutjob space in British politics for party(ies) left of where Labour are now, that's a pretty terrifying scenario for our society and for our environment. We'll need help from gods or aliens if that's the case. I'm not sure that either exist, but having said that, I didn't think it was possible that a moron like Liz Truss could somehow be (albeit briefly) running the country. Yes, actually running the country under a party which is arguably less batsh!t crazy than the one you seem to support now.

If you looked from even ten years ago at where we are now, and the backdrop of the terrifying problems the entire globe faces, you'd be astounded to see that there's no sane right wing of British politics. Although that's probably Labour now, in which case we surely need a balancing left wing alliance of Lib Dems and Greens, or something new.

So people voting for a party to the left of Labour are "nutjobs", do you label those voting to the right of the Tories the same?

People who blame everything on immigrants aren't nutjobs but people who want to see the wealthy pay a greater share to make sure the country works for everyone are? That's quite the hot take.

Probably because you live in a country where most of the mainstream press is owned by right leaning owners who want you to think that left wing ideas are "loony" and that we should all bow down to our wealthy capitalist masters.

Don't you understand plain English? I said the opposite. I am free to support whichever party I like by the way. If it upsets you, I don't think I'll lose much sleep over it.

Your reply didn't really answer my question.

I've not told you who to support. You were the one who attacked people left of Labour as "nutjobs". Perhaps look at your own posting before pointing fingers at others.

The term looney left has long been applied. It's not a term I coined personally. You're clearly looking for a fight as usual so I'll leave you with this to digest.

The only person looking for a fight is you by first describing people as "nutjobs" and then not answering questions put to you whilst continually posting about a term which isn't relevant in the debate and wasn't used and which everyone clearly knows.

Getting pretty annoyed that every time I respond to your nonsense posts you say I am looking for a fight - everyone can see that isn't the case so please stop it.

I find it difficult to accept that the Labour vote will be similar to the combined Tory/ Reform vote. Surely this pole is an outlier.

It'll be a depressing day if Farage wins a seat. He's shown from his time in Brussels that he's dishonest and only looking to get out of the system what he can for himself. Whichever party he was in, he shouldn't be anywhere near HoC and he fails several of the standards (supposedly!) expected - selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, leadership.

Argh, the opposite, I think I understand now, but just to clarify. Do you mean to say that only nutjobs vote for party's to the left of Labour ( Greens, lib dems etc) and only sane people vote for parties to the right of the Tories? ( Reform, BNP, NF, British Union of Fascists etc)

Like you say, far left wing are traditionally labelled loonies. Far right are fascists, nazis etc. Sane people wouldn't vote for either. I'm sorry this seems to have upset some folk.

I very much doubt it. The reason the conservatives are facing wipe out is because they cow towed to a minority of right wing extremists and are now facing the consequences.

I doubt you are old enough to remember the last general election - but Labour were unelectable because they cow towed to deranged left wing extremists and 44% of the electorate opted for economic stagnation and self harm. A landslide no less. Your dad might be able to tell you that the conservatives have churned though quite a few leaders and cabinets since those heady days - whilst Labour are now everybody’s cup of tea as Conservative Lite.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out that IF the Conservative silence their nut jobs for 5 years and do an about face and reclaim the centre ground they will be on course for a huge majority in the next election.

There may well be a sizeable minority of racists, little UKer, etc in this country - but the one good thing about first past the posts is that they don’t get a voice in parliament (unless they get Conservative safe seats). Here in France 36% of a small European electorate turnout voted for Ulrich le Pen’s love child. They get 36% of the seats - but the majority can still ignore them if they want to.

Was that response meant to be to my opening post?

Communist Party of Britain? Albeit they’re tiny. The vast majority of candidates are certainly standing on an neoliberal ticket. Certainly economically and because of that inevitably socially. There’s certainly not a popular, credible left/far left wing option. Greens are the closest, and they can’t do much. We are overwhelmingly a right wing country these days.
