Seen some people suggest it should be a ballot system for away tickets next season. What’s everyone’s thoughts?

I think that’s a bit unfair on the fans who have made the long trips to unfavourable destinations over the years.

Not different at all - the away system is in place and people knew how it works, therefore it is completely fair.

Lots of systems are in place that people know how they work, that doesn't intrinsically make them fair and/or right. Slavery was in place for hundreds of years and everyone knew how it worked, but I suppose you think that was fair?

Your logic is all over the place. Or rather, the system suits you so you don't want it changed. "I'm alright Jack, screw everyone else."

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

The thing is, the current system DOESN'T reward those who've attended for the longest time. In theory, someone could've started watching away in 2022/23 and now have much more priority than someone (like me) who's been going away since 1999.

There is a way of rewarding both elements of the fan base.

Club should follow the England model.

70% allocation to those with the highest loyalty points.

30% in a ballot to everyone else who applies.

Unsold tickets put up for sale fastest finger first.

Rewards loyalty, but not a closed shop.

Once way to take into account points is to have a ballot where the probability of getting a ticket is proportional to your points. So someone with 20 points would have twice as much chance of getting a ticket as someone with 10 points and so on. But even someone with a low number of points has a small chance.

Something like this would be good, I think. The current points system is very skewed. The more points you have the easier it is to get more points. I have a decent number so I'm sure most people in my position were getting messages all season along the lines of, ' are you going to Hull? my mate Dave wants to come but hasn't got the points can I use yours?'.

I've only been to a few away games local to me over the past few seasons. Other commitments have meant that I've not been to FPR for a looong time.

Accordingly I don't expect to be anywhere near the top of the pile this season, but if the powers that be introduce a ballot system for a small percentage of the availability where I could nominate a couple of games that I can definitely get to (Wolves and Villa most likely) I'd be happy to participate. However, the season ticket holders and regular travellers should be first in the club's thinking on this. I wouldn't expect it to be any other way.

More crying from the usual entitled suspects. But,but it’s not fair everyone should get a chance. Would probably call a strike if they could.

When it was season ticket moves you stated "I am one of those who paid to sit through dross, but that gives me no greater rights than anyone else and lots of people havent been able to set a ST and would bite off someone's right arm for one. Ultimately if people don't want to move they can hand their ticket back or accept there is no choice and enjoy PL football."

Does your approach not apply to away tickets. Hypocrisy at its finest. All is fine unless it affects you.

Spot on. They've not come across very well in recent weeks. Had a right go at Romy as well i recall

It would appear that the majority of those wanting a ballot are the same ones that have jumped on the band wagon of the last 2 successful seasons, in particular last season and now have expectations they should get the same priority of those that have following the club away week in, week out. Next they will be claiming a ballot to apply for a season ticket !!

I don't think anyone is suggesting purely a ballot. Anyone that went to 50%+ of the away games last season will have no problems getting tickets to any game they want to. That can't be any more than 1500-2000 surely?

After that, is someone that went to say 7 away games more deserving than someone that went to 2 games? Strictly speaking, yes, but it is hardly super fan levels. You'll have loads of fans that sit somewhere between 1 and 10 games.

The club have to make it plausible for fans to be able to get away tickets or people aren't going to bother paying 40 quid for a membership.

Norwich sold out rapidly at 25+, so maybe 1600 are now in the 30+ category. There probably will be people who went to half of away games last season and are still in 15+ or 20+, either because they didn't get about the country in L1, or because they weren't worried about missing a few matches when we were down there. I'm on 20 points and have prepared myself for a new ballot system to affect my category, but would be confident if on 30+ of getting to most.

Have you actually read the thread? From what I see the majority are long-standing supporters who, for various reasons, haven't been able to get to as many away games in the last couple of seasons in order to build up their points.

No-one's said they should get "the same priority" either.

You seem to have missed all the facts and are just parroting what you want to be true. Are you a Tory/Reform voter?!

The points total was against 2 seasons, plus a bonus 5 points for pevious year membership. Season 22/23 will now drop off. So somebody who did 10+10 will be behind someone who did 5+15.

When announcing the scheme last year the club were quite explicit in how this would work going forward, albeit probably not expecting the demand to be as high.

What is your proposal then to solves the issue and for all those long standing fans that have not been able to get to as many away games in the last couple of years, but now we are in the Premier league now want tickets ?? The point system is surely the fairest way of doing it ?? If tickets ever get to general sale, then do a ballot.

Why bring politics into the discussion ?

Ah cheers didn't realise they'd already decided how the points will adjust next season. I did 4+6 (with membership x2), so will drop to 11 points then. 😔

Why should I sacrifice all the money I've spent and the points I've earned being a loyal supporter to a ballot where it just becomes a free for all. The Club (not me) devised the points system to reward Season Ticket Holders and Gold Card Members to give them priority. It's called putting your money where your mouth is.

Totally agree . Ballot system is ridiculous why should you reward those who only been going few seasons.

Several people have made suggestions in the thread (which I've agreed with).
70% go to those with the points.
30% go to a ballot so it isn't a closed shop.
An added system where you can increase your priority for one or two games if you happen to live near those grounds.

All of which is sensible, fair and doesn't create a closed shop where those with the points get all the tickets... and then get more points and thus more tickets ad infinitum.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

80% points, 20% ballot. That would give the high points members 2400 tickets so no one who went up and down the country in league one would miss out.

You could even make it 2500/500. Would that still be unfair?

They may tweak it slightly, but I can't see it being radically different and away capacities are mostly larger than last season.

I do think they'll introduce something for home games, probably along similar lines.

Also once games start moving to Friday night and Monday night then that will likely free up tickets.

(As may - whisper it - losing a few games....)
