Decent to be fair. As long as you invest time on the mash to make it nice and smooth and creamy. None of that lumpy school sh1t.

Can't stand pomegranate seeds, don't know why anyone thinks its a good idea to put them into meals. Otherwise I'm on board, not had mackerel for ages.

Smooth mash makes me vomit personally - got to have lumps, but really, any other potato dish is better.

They add a sweetness and a crunch - what's not to like? It depends what you add them to, of course. They're an ideal balance for something with a mix of spicy flavours.

Bit too sweet for me fella. Sick and tired of seeing them in salads.

Downvote for the 'got to have lumps' bit, made me heave. Do agree that they're a poor form in which to eat your spuds though. In order: Fries Dauphinoise Chips Roasted Jacket Mash Boiled

...was that it was actually smooth and "lumpless". Plus we seemed to always have some sort of sponge cake as dessert, which was great. School dinners in general were alright. But then I did go to a grammar school.

You're being very odd lately, are you alright? If you're suggesting that's an expensive meal... well you're wrong, it ain't. Pomegranate just over a quid, mackerel fillets £2.50, asparagus is like £2 a pack and I'm using a third of it, Greek yogurt £3 something (but that's a massive tub I'm only using a fraction of) and walnuts, broccoli and spices I already had.

Mash is clearly a wrongun if it can make a smoothy and lumpy both wretch. Agree with your list, bar your heinous mash opinion.

Mash is great made with creme fraiche and a touch of nutmeg... but if you like lumpy mash then decent mash will probably be lost on you!
