Scored 18 goals last season! At least do some basic research before talking drivel. |
First half of the season he was on it, 2nd half his ability went down and eventually was a sub. Scotland he had zero impact. so no. I am not changing my opinion. Still don't think his the right solution for us in the prem. |  | | |

Can't see why anyone would have too many objections to this if it happened. A good age, 100 odd appearances at PL level, scored goals, and out of contract. We need depth and ideally need a few who are a bit less wet behind the ears which he would provide. |  | | |

Was a handful against us in both games to be fair. Nearly equalised at St Mary's but for a superb block (Woolfie IIRC). Did equalise at PR. Think we went on to win that game, late goal if memory serves. Not especially memorable obviously. | | | |

He didn't do a lot at the Euro's admittedly, but he's not the only one. There's a bloke who scored nearly 40 goals in the Bundesliga and he's not done a great deal either, in a much better team.
Agree, could do a lot worse. If we want PL experience and someone to push Hirst he's a decent bet. Would still think we would add another #9 anyway. | | | |

Bizarre, isn't it? I know little about the player, but his goal stats posted here, if correct, look good enough for starters.

It's OK not to fancy a player, even if it's against the majority opinion and perhaps the stats don't back that up. I think your mistake was claiming he couldn't score, but nowt wrong with a feeling somebody isn't right for us.
I don't fancy having Downes back but realise I'm probably in a minority of one, but that's just my opinion. |  |
