And we have national unrest, pensioners being put into poverty, roads and hospital programs cancelled.

Going well. I'm sure there'll be some positives soon.

Almost as if there was some merit to the suggestions that the Tories knew exactly what they were doing when they called an early election.

Recent events do make me wonder if their intelligence sources suggested, as well, that there may be a higher-than-usual risk of violent disorder this summer. It's been a while since the last spate of summer violence, and they do seem to happen every ten years or so - 1981, 1990, 2001, 2011...

What did you expect to happen? The Tories have completely destroyed this country. It's going to take many years to clean up the mess that they created.

Junior doctors got a 22% pay rise though. For a country that is cash strapped, that's responsible I guess.

For a country that, over the course of the last fourteen years, has ground the T&Cs of medical professionals into the ground, and rather relies upon the NHS, I'd say that it's a highly responsible move.

Or would you rather not have free-at-the-point-of-use treatment available to you when you need it?

The Government has accepted the findings of the independent NHS pay review body. That's also not 22% for one year, but includes a back-dated element and next year's increase.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I think you need to look back on when the Tories took over from Labour. Not just the last time but many times before. In truth they are both as bad as each other. That's why I believe as with the Tories and now Labour they shouldn't via the number of MP's voted in have a complete mandate. When the Tories joined up with the Lib Dems they were restricted from just doing what they wanted. Now you have Labour with a complete mandate and already they are bringing in things that had they not had such an overall majority they wouldn't be able to do. My concern is house building. It's all very well building thousands of houses and I believe they have referred to infrastructure. But will that happen ? For instance they talk about so many thousands of doctors extra being brought in. I can tell you for definite that out of 2000 applying for Kent Uni this year only 100 got in and it was the same three years ago where over 1000 applied and again 100 medical students got in. Then you have to take into account it's a five year course. Specialise and you can add another two years at least,

And that's like saying we paid £20m for Delap - you're including the top-ups to get that 22%...

"This will be spread over two years. Four per cent for 2023 (on top of an existing increase of between eight and 10 per cent) and a further pay rise of six per cent for 2024. This would be topped up by a £1,000 pay rise, which means this year’s pay rise would average an increase of over 8 per cent."

Not sure Pol Pot would have put with the hassle of conducting an electoral campaign.

I'll go out on a limb here and guess that the actions of the chap who stabbed the kids in Southport, which seems to have generated a lot of social unrest, has zero to do with a change of government. He did live almost his entire life under a Tory regime as he's 17, so maybe it's their fault somehow.

The winter fuel payment decision partly sorts out the ridiculous situation of wealthy pensioners getting the benefit even if they don't need it. At least now it will be means tested.

But maybe there wouldn't be such a shortage in the public purse if mates of Tory MPs who had no experience in making PPE hadn't been given billions in contracts to make unusable equipment. Just a thought.
