Biggest signing in the last 20 years? 10:06 - Aug 15 with 7197 views | smithy69 | Barring McKenna - Kalvin Philips IMO would be our biggest signing in 20 years. England international with 30 caps, who is just 28 years old and was the standout performer at the Euros when we lost to Italy. If McKenna can get him fit and firing - he could genuinely be the difference I think it’s massive - and I have no doubts there will be some negative responses - but if we can even get him back to 75% of his ability - he’s a huge positive . I think a smallwr club that will show him support is what he needs

I'll give you that one! But still not in the KP bracket.

Biggest signing in the last 20 years? on 15:25 - Aug 15 with 1814 views | ScotBlue | Showing my age but Balthatcha with all the hype around being the first Russian and scores on his debut only for Duncan to spend the rest of his time here playing him out of position. Think he may have had a couple of USSR caps as well. Accepted this is older than the OP's 20 years but someone has mentioned the great Wark and Mariner

Biggest signing in the last 20 years? on 12:57 - Aug 15 by AVJones | John Wark in 1988 ?? He had similar numbers of caps, and a real point to prove as he was in Liverpool reserves following a terrible injury. Was amazing for two seasons. It wasn’t the top league though and 36 years ago! Way older than 20 years ago but Franz Thijssen made his Dutch debut in 1985, a long time before he came to us

Yep, but was only on the fringes of the squad - never a regular, before during or after his time here. Think he only got about a dozen caps which given the success he had here is odd.

I think you're right that Sergei may have been the most prominent international at a time when he was signed by Town, excluding Warkie as a buy-back. Balatacha had played about 40 games for the Soviet Union, and had appeared in the 1982 World Cup.

It depends how you judge it but I agree with you. Roy Keane being appointed is the only time I can remember anyone joining the club with such a high profile and at an age where they should be at their peak.

Nearer 30 years, but Ian Crook nearly signed for us and nearly beat Inter Milan, if it hadn't have been that Norwich didn't actually win
