I foresee a much changed line up going forward 20:14 - Aug 24 with 3078 viewsITFC_84

After getting those two games ‘out of the way’.

This looks nailed on doesn’t it?

Muric

Johnson. O’Shea. Greaves. Davis

Morsy. Phillips

Hutchinson. Szmodics. Clarke

Delap

Chaplin
Tuanzebe
Cajuste
Walton
Burgess
Woolfenden
Al-Hamadi (new signing?)

It’s hard to see how Mass, Taylor, Harness feature much…

At this stage I'd say Tuanzebe has made more of a claim at right back than Johnson, but it's early days.

First XI: Muric, Tuanzebe, Davis, O'Shea, Greaves, Morsy, Cajuste, Hutchinson, Szmodics, J Clarke, Delap

Second XI: Walton, Johnson, Townsend, Woolfenden, Burgess, Phillips, Luongo, Burns, Chaplin, Broadhead, NEW STR

I imagine H Clarke and Hirst will be part of the 25 as well, along with Slicker, currently, as the third keeper. With Delap and Hutchinson counting as under 21 players, it opens up spaces for two more players as well... Taylor and Harness?

That leaves Edmundson, Al-Hamidi and Ladapo to move on.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?

Phillips in the reserve team?

Phillips in the reserve team?

To start with, I believe so. I think he'll be gradually introduced. Considering we'll be signing Cajuste if we stay up, add to his age and recent form, I think he'll be given a chance first. Plus... can I see Morsy being dropped so both Cajuste and Phillips play? I'm not sure - at this stage at least.

It's going to be tricky to select the team for Wimbledon. Of course you look to select the second XI, but several of the players who haven't started yet will be starting against Fulham.

So basically everyone who got us here on the bench or out of the door. Not a fan myself.

I survived Ipswich 0-0 Burton

That has Forest vibes from their first season back in the Prem - but I guess they did just survive.

Thought Johnson was far more effective against Doku in the first half defensively than leif was against savinho

I do wonder whether we may approach more games with a back three, which will see Johnson and Tuanzebe start, with one backing up the other.

I know, but this team has to evolve is it’s going to survive. It’s a cut throat business.

In fairness, if Burns, Broadhead and Hirst were fit they'd all be heavily involved going forward. Morsy, Davis, Tuanzebe and Hutchinson will continue to be. And there'll still be minutes for the likes of Chaplin, Luongo, Woolfenden etc.

We haven't just chucked the old squad in the bin. Injuries are skewing things a bit.

Absolutely essential but this whole £80m spend so far doesn't sit that comfortably. The EPL has kicked on massively since we were last there.

On the other hand seeing Harness once of Portsmouth in league 1 come on today at Man City was a much a much warmer sight.

On your last point, Ali Al-Hamadi has played at Forest Green Rovers in the league this calendar year. Fast forward 8 and a bit months and he's had league minutes against Liverpool and Man City!

Lovely for Fridge to get on at the Etihad, too.

That’s how professional football works, and work in general. Everyone does what is required to make the club better than it was before, and if you’re not good enough for that you move on. I’m all for loyalty but not at the expense of everything that’s been achieved in the last 30 months.

Didn't think much of Doku. Thought he was wasteful and lacked quality compared to his colleagues.

I know that was then, but it could be again..
