Broja update from Albanian journalist 12:40 - Aug 28 with 12663 viewsitfcjoe

The examination of Armando Broja by the doctor who operated on him was closed yesterday.

The answer that came out from there remains a mystery, Ipswich is using it as an alibi to play under new conditions

Ipswich is using the fact that it is going towards the last hours of the market and Chelsea does not have much time..

Sounds like we are now in the position to leverage our interest in both Broja and Foster to get the best deal possible over the line.

A sellers market, may have become a buyers?

They hadn't as of yesterday afternoon.

Maybe the Foster stuff is to spook them into coming back to the table, but my concern is Chelsea would probably rather Broja remained in their U23s than look like they've been bent over the table by newly promoted Ipswich.

Chelsea are looking pretty silly one way or another. They either tried to palm off a one legged footballer for a kings ransom or they were so incompetent they didn’t know he had an injury. Since they’ve binned the deadwood to the far corner of Cobham (like Stirling), the latter wouldn’t surprise me, but if there’s any truth in this achilles milarky, I suspect they’re trying it on.

Albanian doctors, journalists Chelsea ‘oh really?’. Who knows the truth of it, beyond two other clubs saying no thanks and a serious ACL injury a couple of years ago. If McKenna is that keen, why don’t Chelsea send him here on loan with no obligation to buy?

If he’s as good as claimed and he’s as fit as triathlete Alex Yee, they’ve got a player worth far more than £30m and the world and his misses will be knocking at their door. If not, nothing lost.

That's essentially where it's been for a few days now. Town trying to renegotiate terms, Chelsea insisting there's no issue and therefore no need to.

Sounds like he has an injury. Chelsea don't think it's anything major so no needs to change the terms as they feel he will still be worth the 30 mill in a years time

Town don't feel the injury Is something to ignore and something that can be OK but also cause future issues so want to change the obligation to an optional fee.

a niche perspective

I'm not privy to the info on Broja's Achilles, I've been basing that off Phil's recent articles and trying to define an accurate timeframe.

My contact did say this morning that he's "good to go", suggesting a (relatively?) clean bill of health after a minor foot injury in pre-season (which Chelsea didn't disclose to us!)

Have Chelsea moved on that now then?

They'd moved enough to take their own look at the injury. Whether that's persuaded them to move on the terms of the deal and if so to what extent, I'm not sure.

Time will tell the truth of it all. Let’s keep faith in our people to do the right thing.

It’s been a crazy transfer summer.

Chelsea/Maresca have made it very clear they have no use for him, and seemingly we are the only game in town for him (in terms of a permanent move away). It's brinkmanship but I don't hate it (although I worry that the Foster fee probably goes higher the close to the deadline).

I thought we'd moved on from Foz as match day announcer

That doesn't sound very complimentary.

They have so much amortisation to cover a year they can't really afford to be principled, basically have £250m a season they need to cover off so these deals are so important to get done or you end up buying Joao Felix just to give that team enough money to buy your 2nd best player and sometime skipper

They can just sell some more land or a youth team to themselves.

If true that’s brilliant. ME could have learnt a lot from MA.

McKenna must want him, so obviously I’ll get behind that, but it’s a massive gamble, in my opinion. If he’s out for a minimum of 7 weeks and god forbid Delap gets injured on Saturday, who are we playing upfront? (Don’t think Szmodics can play the 9 that we do).

Suspect the truth lies somewhere between Chelsea asserting he’s fine and Ipswich asserting he’s a total crock. Think what’s being made public is being done to strengthen a negotiating position.

It all has to come to a head in the next couple of days anyway.
